Our Grade 8s and 9s recently attended informative and thought-provoking workshops run by the ReStory Foundation.

Ahead of the Grade 9s service week, the ReStory team ran a HOPE BUILDING WORKSHOP, aimed to shape interactions that build dignity, agency and long-term transformation. The workshop is designed to challenge the way we go about charitable giving and social upliftment, and aims to build thoughtfulness, self-awareness and intentionality around Honour, Outcomes, Potential and Empowerment.

The Grade 8 group were led through a series of discussions that aim to build belonging, connection and ownership of their camp, and ultimately, their high school experience.

We believe our boys have left with much to think about, and we trust that this workshop will positively impact not only their service week, and camp, but the men they will ultimately become.

We also look forward to journeying with the ReStory Foundation as they develop their debating and chess programmes. We are excited about this mutually beneficial and nation building relationship.

We are proud to share that both our Junior and Competition Marimba Bands will be participating in the South African National Schools Marimba Competition, taking place from 29–30 June 2026 at the Michaelhouse Indoor Centre. 🔵⚪️
This is a wonderful opportunity for our boys to showcase their talent, teamwork and passion for music on a national stage. We encourage our Northwood community to show their support and wish our young musicians all the very best as they prepare to represent the Knights with pride.

Northwood was privileged to host a team of 11 Educators from The School of St Jude in Tanzania, a remarkable school committed to fighting poverty through education by providing free, quality education to bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
(Watch their inspiring story here:

During their one day visit, we had the opportunity to take them on a tour of Northwood, with various departments sharing more about our school, our approach, and how we encourage boys to participate fully in academics, sport, culture, clubs and school life.

It was not only a meaningful opportunity for us to share what we do, but also a valuable chance for us to learn from them and the incredible work being done at their school. We are grateful for the global connection, conversation and shared learning. 🔵⚪️

Northwood Surfing Ends the Season on a High! 🏆

Competing in softer, slower surfing conditions yesterday,
our Northwood boys had to dig deep to secure a strong finish to what has been a very impressive season.

In the individual finals, featuring six competitors, Northwood was proudly represented by Matt Canning, Jakes Jones and Riley Balfour. Congratulations to all three boys on earning their place in the final. 🤝

A special mention to Riley, who secured 3rd place, and to Matt, who claimed 1st place in a true “buzzer beater” heat — securing the score he needed on his final wave, in the final seconds of the 20-minute heat!🔥

The Tag Team finals saw our Northwood 1st Team take the title for the third consecutive year, an outstanding achievement. 🥇

Our 2nd Team finished 5th and our 3rd Team finished 7th, both narrowly missing out on higher positions by just half a point or a single point.

Once again, Northwood’s strength in this sporting discipline has been proudly showcased. Credit must go to the boys for their passion, commitment and positive team spirit, which have all contributed to a successful and enjoyable 2026 season.🌊

Next season holds great promise, with 13 of the current 15 team members still at Northwood, and a crop of enthusiastic young surfers waiting to get into the water and represent our school.🏄‍♂️

Finally, a huge thank you to all our parents for their ongoing support - for transporting the boys, arranging equipment each week, and most importantly, encouraging them to take part in this exciting sport.
Well done, Knights! 🔵⚪️⚔️

Our Northwood delegates have returned from an inspiring four days of conferencing at the annual Aspiring Heads and Deputies APBSA Conference, hosted this year by Paul Roos Gymnasium.

A special thank you to our hosts for their warm welcome and generous hospitality, and to APBSA for their continued partnership in creating such a valuable platform for collaboration, connection and thought leadership.

We are grateful for the opportunity to engage, learn and share alongside colleagues from across our schools’ community.

Although our school hall is currently filled with exam desks and the quiet determination of our young Knights, we look back to just a few weeks ago when the same hall was filled with Knights from years gone by - young men fast-forwarded 10, 20, 30, 40 years and beyond - gathered together to celebrate their Reunion Dinner.

Thank you to the many Knights who travelled from near and far to join us. It was a privilege to hear your stories, share in your memories, and celebrate the lasting legacy of Northlands, Beachwood and Northwood.
It was our honour to host you.

Our rugby fixture against Hilton College provided a valuable day of competition, growth, and lessons that will undoubtedly serve our boys well moving forward.

The U16B and U16C sides were standout performers, showing tremendous spirit and playing some brilliant rugby to secure convincing victories. The 4th team produced a courageous performance in a tightly contested encounter, narrowly falling short after a spirited effort. The 3rd team was undoubtedly one of our strongest performers on the day, battling tooth and nail for a well-deserved win that showcased both character and determination.

The 1st XV faced arguably the top-tier side in KwaZulu-Natal in what proved to be a fast-paced, ferocious contest. Both teams played with intensity and ambition, producing a high-scoring affair filled with exciting rugby and some outstanding tries. The Knights responded time and again to Hilton's scoring opportunities, refusing to back down and displaying immense resilience throughout. While a few crucial moments did not fall our way towards the end, the boys can be proud of the courage and commitment they showed against quality opposition.

A sincere congratulations to Hilton College on a successful day and for their outstanding hospitality.

To our Knights: while the lion's share of results may not have gone our way, the fight, courage, and determination displayed across every team never wavered. We are incredibly proud of how far each player and team has come this season. Every challenge presents an opportunity to learn, every lesson helps us grow, and every shared experience strengthens a brotherhood that extends far beyond the rugby field.

In their final fixture block of the season, Northwood Hockey produced an excellent set of results against Hilton, winning 9 of the 15 matches played, drawing 2 and losing 4.

The day provided a fitting conclusion to a season that has seen significant growth and development across the programme. The 1st XI signed off in style with a hard-fought victory, showing the determination and composure that have characterised their season. The 5th team also ended their campaign on a high with a strong win.

The U16 age group enjoyed an outstanding day, with the A, B, C, D and F teams all recording victories. The 16A side produced a disciplined defensive display to secure a narrow win, while the 16B and 16F teams finished their seasons with particularly impressive performances. The 16C team also showed great character to come through a high-scoring encounter, while the 16E side earned a deserved draw.

At U14 level, the A team capped off their season with an excellent performance, while the 14C side secured a well-earned victory. The 14D team battled hard for a draw, and the 14B side were unfortunate to come away empty-handed after a competitive contest.

As the final whistle blew on the season, there was plenty to celebrate.

Across all age groups, players have represented Northwood with pride, commitment and sportsmanship. The season has provided memorable victories, valuable lessons and lasting friendships, laying a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, managers and supporters on a successful season of Northwood Hockey.
