I can get quite formulaic about how to read well. How to actually approach any type of reading we do. And I might teach you guys those formulaic ways. It's like maths. I treat everything like maths. You guys know how I am about maths. Language is made up of building blocks, letters, words, sentences, paragraphs.

So, being able to scan means we are able to get through a lot more information than we would if we're just watching Tik Toks or YouTube videos, which are very ba- very heavily based on opinion.

Now, if you look at a YouTube video, someone speaks maybe at 200 words a minute. Average reading speed for people your age is between 250 to 300 words per minute that you can read. But then, also, we need to understand that sometimes we don't have to read the whole article, but we can just scan an article.

But the whole goal of it is to see are you understanding what you're reading? Because people can read, people say they can read, but do they really know how to read?

going to be looking at texts and we're going to be thinking about them, talking about them, debating about them. We're really going to be trying to get into the nitty-gritty of how language works. Does that make sense? English is supposed to be that subject that changes your life. It is not just to pass an exam.

We live in a society where we are told to think for ourselves, but our parents, our friends, our old peers, whoever, might actually still want us to let them think for us. Something else I wanted to just introduce you to the idea of is is it wrong though to say I am doing good or I am good if someone asks you how you're doing. So from a grammar perspective it is wrong, but if you don't know then it's not wrong.

Let's look at goodly. I I told you the story about my son and the goodly thing. Now, let's say I create a Tik Tok and my son says something about I did goodly and he becomes a meme. Becomes a meme. That's normal in today's culture, right? Yeah.
