This year, Leadchange Developments proudly participated in the Wits NGO Fair, a premier event on the University of the Witwatersrand’s calendar organized by the Wits Citizenship and Community Outreach (WCCO) office.

By being invited to exhibit at Wits—consistently ranked among the top universities in Africa—Leadchange Developments has received an informal "stamp of approval." Aligning with WCCO’s rigorous standards for community partners signals to other stakeholders that Leadchange Developments is a credible, high-impact organization worthy of the university’s endorsement.

Leadchange Developments, in partnership with SA Guide Dog, successfully staged a massive White Cane Walk through the heart of the Soweto Dobsonville township. The event saw more than 300 visually impaired participants march a 2,6-kilometer route, escorted by the Metro Police, to advocate for the rights, safety, and inclusion of people living with disabilities in disadvantaged communities.

The walk served as a powerful catalyst for change, bringing together diverse stakeholders from across the disability network to challenge deep-rooted stereotypes. Beyond a march for rights, the event highlighted the bridge between social awareness and the life-changing ICT Training and Skills Development programs hosted at the Leadchange Developments campus in Dobsonville with the support from Sage Foundation.

“Visibility is the enemy of stigma,” says Shaun Soko, Founder of Leadchange Developments. “By walking these streets, our participants are not just asking for space; they are proving that with the right tools—like the white cane and digital literacy—they are independent, capable, and ready to contribute to the economy.”

This initiative is made possible through the sustained support of the Sage Foundation, whose commitment to knocking down barriers to digital inequality has ensured that the momentum from this walk leads directly into classrooms and corporate boardrooms.
