HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR VERY OWN MR. JOSHUA! 🇿🇦🏅

We are immensely proud to share that Mr.Nurdeen Joshua was selected as a National Team Coach for the South African Schools Athletics team at the recent COSASSA (Confederation of Southern African Schools Sports Associations) Games!

The games took place from August 31st to September 3rd in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, bringing together top student-athletes from South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, and Zimbabwe to compete across athletics, netball, football, and volleyball.

This prestigious national call-up comes on the heels of his stellar work coaching the Western Cape Team at the South African Schools Athletics Championships earlier this year. From leading the province to taking on Southern Africa, Mr. Joshua continues to set the standard for coaching excellence and dedication.

🎊Normies Learners Come Second at Youth Citizens Action Program🎊

Huge congratulations to our incredible Grade 8 YCAP learners on reaching the YCAP Provincial Round and proudly representing Metro South!

Under the guidance of Mr. C Petersen, our learners presented their project, G-KARD, which tackles littering by applying the Broken Windows Theory. Through research, teamwork, awareness campaigns, and meaningful action, they have shown that young people can identify problems in their school and become part of the solution. ♻️

Normies, stand together against bullying!

42 pupils. 3 years of bullying. 1 unbreakable mission.

From 24–26 August, Kayla is running to 42 schools in Mitchells Plain to take a stand against bullying with 42 Unbreakable. We are stepping up to show our solidarity right here at home!

This morning we completed our first 42-Minute Solidarity Run on the Normies field. We will notify the community of future support runs; it is open to all! Every single learner deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected.

🎊Normies Girls Soccer Team Shines 🎊

Yesterday, 19 August 2026, our girls' soccer team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a resounding 7-0 victory against the International Maarif Schools Cape Town. It was a true masterclass in finishing, with the team not only finding the back of the net repeatedly but also maintaining a clean sheet.
Special recognition goes to the scorers: Logan Van Beulen (8B), Morgan Collison (10B), and Reyana Manzoni (9F). Your composure in front of goal, sharp off-the-ball movement, and clinical ex*****on made all the difference.

While individual brilliance shone brightly, this achievement is by the collective effort, teamwork, and determination of the entire squad. Driving the team to such a commanding victory requires unity and relentless spirit—qualities our girls displayed in abundance.

We applaud the whole team for making us proud and look forward to seeing this momentum carried into the next matches.👏👏👏👏👏

Debate Team Dominates Derby Day & Cape Town International Open! 🏆

What an incredible weekend for the Norman Henshilwood High School Debate Team! Our debaters delivered an outstanding performance both on and off the school grounds, showcasing their skill, preparation, and determination.

The weekend kicked off on Friday, 14 August, with our Derby Day debate against South Peninsula High School. Our team secured the victory, with Diego Cornelius also being awarded Best Speaker for the debate. 🏆

The success continued into the weekend as we competed in the National Debating Leagues (NDL) Cape Town International Open Championship, entering four teams across two divisions:

Division A: 2 teams (Grades 10–12)

Division B: 2 teams (Grades 8–9)

Saturday saw an exceptional performance from all four teams, with every NHHS team winning all of their preliminary rounds! 💪

Sunday brought tougher competition, with one Division A team and one Division B team suffering a loss in the preliminary rounds. Despite this, we successfully sent one team from each division through to the semi-finals. While none of our teams ultimately advanced to the finals, their performances were exceptional, with all four teams finishing in the Top 5 of their respective divisions.

As expected, Normie's Business Studies Dept cemented their reputation as the leading school for Business Studies in the Western Cape.

We entered only two candidates, and our Rabia Galant finished 3rd in the 2026 annual BS Provincial Quiz. Sasha achieved 1st position in the elimination round!
