Dihlabeng Christian School was started in January 2000 as a part of Dihlabeng Christian Church's desire to bring hope to the hopeless by working with the materially disadvantaged and those from the poorer part of our Clarens' community. The school is constantly growing (from 9 children in 2000 to 138 in 2013) and we have found that all people in the local community: English, Afrikaans and Basotho want a place for their children at Dihlabeng Christian School.

Today, we were visited by our Sister School, Missio Dei from Ficksburg. We had so much fun competing in netball and soccer. Learners made new friendships, teachers socialized with each other and most importantly, the presence of God was felt deeply as both these schools (DCS and Missio Dei) share the same Christian values. We would like to thank all DCS learners for partaking, parents for supporting, the staff for organizing and our visitors for making a turn and spending the day with us.

To celebrate Mother's Day in SA, the school hosted an event for the older girls and their mother's to reinforce the importance of the relationship between mothers and daughters, and to give them an opportunity to express their appreciation of each other. The students had been learning the 'Tippy Toppy' dance which they had fun teaching to their mums. There were lovely craft activities to do together, games to play and cup cakes and refreshments. It was a lovely time spent together. We hope all the mums felt loved and appreciated. Happy Mother's Day to all our incredible mums. You are loved, valued and appreciated.

At DCS, we believe learners acquire knowledge from both theoratical and practical work. The grade 2s have been doing just that this term. They planted their own bean seeds which are growing quite well. They are excited to see the final product and so are we!

Margaret Grant, the founder and former Principal of Dihlabeng Christian School, has set herself the challenge of swimming the Open Water Midmar Mile on February 7th, in Howick, South Africa, to raise money for the school. This is prestigious and considerable swim and she has been training hard.
If you would like to support her, and the school, by making a donation, please use the details on either of the two posters shown. One has bank details for those in South Africa, the other has details from those in the UK. Make sure you use the right one!!
We wish Margaret very success. Photos to follow!
