Book Week at ISCT
Last week, our students across ISCT Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 discovered new stories, met characters, explored ideas, and learned that books can take us on all kinds of adventures.
For our youngest learners, Book Week was all about developing a love of stories — sharing books, discovering new characters, using their imaginations and beginning to understand how stories help us explore the world around us. Our KS1 students continued this journey, building their confidence as readers while exploring stories, ideas and adventures through books.
We loved welcoming illustrator Anja Stoeckigt, who introduced KS2 to her almost-wordless book The Amazing Deep Sea Adventure, showing just how powerful images can be. The students even had a go at creating their own characters!
We were also joined by Jaconette van Dyk from Penguin Random House, who took us behind the scenes to discover how a book travels from an idea to the shelves.
From Early Years through to KS2, Book Week was a wonderful opportunity to develop curiosity, creativity, imagination and independent thinking — all important parts of a Cambridge education.
A week of stories, discovery and adventure — because every book opens the door to a new world.
