Once upon a reading afternoon…
At Tina Cowley Wierdapark, something special happens every week.
Our readers don't all come on the same day. Some come on Mondays, some on Tuesdays, some on Wednesdays and some on Thursdays.
But every reader is an important part of our reading family! ❤️📚
Our wonderful teachers, Teacher Eĺlne, Teacher Jackie and Teacher Amy, are always ready with books, smiles, encouragement and plenty of fun.

🐦 Chapter 1 – Mondays
The Dikkop Birds in Our Garden!
Monday had arrived!
Our Monday readers included Daniel, Chloe, Divan, Evangeline, Eva, Amore, Zeeni, Rea, Mia, CJ, Don, Phillip, Hayden and Henro.
Everyone was getting ready for another exciting reading session when Teacher Jackie suddenly stopped.
“Wait! What’s that in the garden?” 👀
Everyone looked up.
Teacher Jackie had spotted two Dikkop birds in the backyard!
The readers were SO excited.
“Look at the birds!”
But then came an even bigger surprise…
TWO LITTLE EGGS! 🥚🥚
“WOW!”
Everyone wanted to see.
Teacher Jackie reminded everyone to watch quietly and give the birds plenty of space.
Our little Dikkop friends had chosen a quiet spot in the garden to keep their eggs safe.
What an adventure!
We came to Tina Cowley Wierdapark to read…
…but we discovered two birds and two little eggs!

📖 Chapter 2 – Tuesdays
The Book Character Fashion Show!
Tuesday was here!
Our Tuesday readers included Atlegang, William, Kay, Marli, Carel and Liam.
And Tuesday was extra special because it was National Book Week!
The readers were ready to celebrate their favourite books and characters.
But there was a surprise…
Some of our readers had dressed up!
Carel and Marli looked fantastic as their favourite book characters.
Then came the big announcement…
🥁 DRUMROLL PLEASE! 🥁
“THE WINNERS OF BEST-DRESSED BOOK CHARACTER ARE…”
CAREl AND MARLI! 🎉
Everyone clapped and cheered.
Books, costumes and imagination had turned an ordinary reading day into a mini fashion show!

🌟 Chapter 3 – Wednesdays
The Wednesday Readers
Wednesday brings another wonderful group of readers to Tina Cowley Wierdapark.
Our Wednesday readers include Veandri and Jano, as well as our Grade 1 reader, William.
Every reader brings something special to the classroom.
Some readers love a funny story.
Some love adventures.
Some enjoy discovering new words.
And some are always ready to ask:
“Can I read one more page?” 😄
Our teachers are always there to encourage every reader.

📚 Chapter 4 – Thursdays
The Junior Readers
Thursday is another busy and exciting reading day!
Our Thursday junior readers include Hayden, William, Handre and Leanka.
The juniors arrive ready for their reading adventure.
Books are opened.
Pages are turned.
Words are sounded out.
And sometimes there is a little giggling too! 😄
Teacher Ellne, Teacher Jackie and Teacher Amy know that every child learns differently.
That's why we try to make every reading session happy, positive and encouraging.
Because when children enjoy reading, they can begin to discover just how much fun books can be!
