A Spirometry test, or Lung Function Test, is done to determine the stage that you are at.
It involves blowing into a Spirometer three times and measures a number of things .... mainly, the volume of air that your lungs can accommodate and the the speed and pressure that you can exhale a full breath.
I run the COPD Foundation - South Africa and we have moved down to Clansthal, near Scottburgh.
We provide free screening for people aged between 18 and 70 and who feel that they get out of breath. It takes approximately 15 minutes and is a non invasive screening and you get your results immediately - printout and e-mailed or WhatsApp to you.

Access to spirometry is essential to the diagnosis and management of COPD. How can you overcome access obstacles? Hold a free public COPD screening and education clinic at your local medical center. Or, try organizing a mobile bus tour to reach remote areas!

November 20 is World COPD Day! COPD Global and FENAER (the Spanish Federation of respiratory patient associations) together with the scientific society (SEPAR) and the Spanish Patient Experience Institute (IEXP) are pleased to announce they will be working together to develop a common strategy to raise awareness about COPD and co-develop educational resources to benefit the Spanish-speaking community in the United States and Central and South America.

This year on World FIRS societies join the theme “All Together to End COPD” emphasising the fact that many people are involved in the fight to end COPD. At every stage and at any age, there is an opportunity to prevent or treat COPD. From care providers, families and patients, to policy makers and employers - everyone can make an impact.
