Having a sound knowledge of the theoretical principles of music aids in all of the learning fields necessary to become an excellent musician. Therefore we include theory and theory homework in each lesson. The studio prepares selected and committed students for participation in the exams of Trinity College of London. Examiners travel from England to facilitate these exams. Afrikaans speaking children take part in the theory exams of Unisa. Students are encouraged to take part in Eisteddfods. The studio offers two professional concerts per year, giving students the opportunity and exposure in the performing arts environment. Notes on progress are made weekly and used at the end of each term to provide the student/parent a progress report. Yearly assessment by an external examiner is also done. The studio works in close collaboration with parents and caregivers to ensure that commitment to a regular practice regime is followed so that the lessons are enjoyable and students progress within their possibilities to well-rounded musicians.
