MORE ABOUT THE GUITAR SCHOOL

The Pieter Nel Guitar School, based in Centurion, has been in existence since 1996. Up to date had over 568 students, ranging from pure beginners through to advanced guitarists.

Lessons will be given in a relaxed, informal environment on a one on one basis. All musical styles are being catered for especially Boeremusiek, as well as theory and reading of music via tableture or notation.

During lessons, emphasis is placed on interaction eg. playing and jamming with a student to promote confidence and practical experience.

All ages, especially the young ones, starting with grade R are being catered for.

Re-stringing and small repairs are also being done professionally by myself.

No experience is needed, but passion and hard work is a requisition!
Lesson times: Mondays to Fridays 12H00 - 19H00.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

I come from a family of multi instrumentalists, started playing the guitar and singing at the age of 6. I started doing recording work for the SABC in 1976 on guitar and bass. I was the guitarist in the winning band in the National Boeremusiek Band competition of 1980 on TV. I started playing the pro circuit in 1980 as a One-Man-Band. There after I became a member of the prestigious SADF (South African Defence Force) Entertainment Group for nearly two decades. Being an "Old School" musician, I believe in doing everything correctly and depending on my hearing because in those days there was no internet, DVD's or online lessons - I had to figure it out for myself. Although I've shared the stage with very talented musos and performers, it's not whom you play with, but your knowledge and experience.

Due to personal reasons, I withdrew from the professional scene and consentrated on teaching.

After all, experience is about the only thing one cannot buy or download from the internet.

Being a collector of guitars, I've had a passion for stringed instruments for the past 50 years.
