One of the biggest risks in the current legacy qualification environment is waiting too long to act.
As potential cut-off dates approach, pressure typically increases across learner onboarding, approvals, HR administration, SETA processing, grant alignment, and provider capacity.
Our advice is simple: prepare early while flexibility still exists.
Early planning allows organisations to assess workforce needs properly, evaluate qualification pathways strategically, and avoid rushed decisions later in the year.
This is not about fear-driven action. It is about protecting operational flexibility and reducing risk before timelines potentially tighten further.
Speak to SpecCon now about continuity planning and strategic workforce solutions tailored to your environment.

Not all QCTO qualifications are affected, but certain legacy-aligned learnerships may be approaching a significant transition point as 30 June 2026 approaches.
Historically, extensions have kept some legacy qualifications active beyond their original timelines. However, there has currently been no clear indication from SETAs, the QCTO, or relevant ministries that further blanket extensions will automatically be granted again.
For employers relying on these programmes for workforce development, B-BBEE, Employment Equity, or tax optimisation, this creates an important planning moment.
SpecCon’s focus is not panic — it is preparation.
We are already helping organisations assess exposure, understand available pathways, and structure practical continuity plans should certain legacy qualifications phase out.
If your organisation may be affected, now is the time to speak to SpecCon about practical next steps before the June 2026 window narrows further.

The market is changing rapidly. Employers no longer want training that
disappears into spreadsheets, registers and disconnected reports. They
want visibility, measurable outcomes and delivery that managers can
actually track.
Outcome-led learning is becoming a business requirement — not just
a compliance exercise — and organisations that embrace measurable
delivery will make stronger workforce decisions long-term.

For many facilitators, assessors, moderators and training providers, the 30 June 2026 legacy ETD enrolment cut-off is approaching far faster than expected. Waiting until the final weeks creates unnecessary risk, admin pressure and delivery disruption.
The employers and providers moving now are giving themselves time to migrate cleanly, communicate clearly and protect future delivery capability.

Too many employers only begin thinking seriously about disability inclusion when reporting deadlines are already approaching. Sustainable inclusion works differently. It starts with workforce planning, structured onboarding and practical learnership pathways that create real opportunity over time.
The most effective employers are not scrambling to “tick a box” , they are building future-ready teams with measurable development and support structures already in place.

Behind every successful learner is guidance that makes the journey possible.
Tshiamo’s heartfelt message reminds us that mentorship is more than support, it is confidence, growth, and the foundation for lasting success.
Learnerships are not only about gaining qualifications, but also about the people who guide, encourage, and inspire growth along the way.
Thank you for sharing your journey and for reminding us of the power of mentorship in skills development.

We understand this can be confusing, and it’s a valid question
Some learnerships are designed for specific groups, such as persons living with disabilities or designated groups.
These programmes are guided by national frameworks aimed at:
✔ Expanding access to opportunities
✔ Supporting inclusion
✔ Addressing critical skills gaps
It’s important to understand:
This approach is not about exclusion; it’s about creating more access over time for those who have had fewer opportunities.
Different programmes are created for different needs, which means there are opportunities for everyone, just at different stages and in different forms.
Explore opportunities that match your journey. Your path is still open.
