These “I NEED…” visual supports are one of over 300 solution-focused tools inside my Behavior Intervention Toolbox.

I love this one because it gives kids words before behavior escalates. So often, a child doesn’t actually want to argue, shut down, or melt down… he or she just doesn’t know how to say what’s needed. This gives them a way to point and communicate. Maybe it’s a seat change. A breathing break. The calm corner. A stretch. A lap pad. A pause.

It helps kids go from reacting to communicating.

And it’s editable, which makes it even more helpful. You can customize it to fit your classroom routines and the specific behaviors you’re seeing. You can even create your own “I Need” supports so it truly matches your students.
