Business owner and an experienced bookkeeper, Natasha de Klerk is passionate about finances and solving problems with numbers.
Her typical day consists of fairly routine work, but Natasha emphasises that a bookkeeper or accountant must be able to think on their feet to resolve any unforeseen crises that may occur. One of the things that inspired Natasha to pursue a career in bookkeeping was that you can apply the basic principals to solve a wide range of problems relating to business and personal finances.
Natasha’s advice to students considering a career in accounting or bookkeeping is to take ownership of their future and remind themselves daily of their goals and reasons for pursuing this path. She also encourages students to obtain a minimum of 4 years of practical experience before staring their own business. This was a critical success factor for Natasha, and she gained valuable experience as a bookkeeper at an established firm before launching her own business.
Bookkeeping is a rewarding career to follow because your skills are in demand in any industry. You have options to join a wide variety of companies, or even start your own business. But possibly the greatest benefit in this career is that you are helping others with a vital function i.e. the effective management of their finances.

- Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts, is best......
