- It includes reaching, grasping and pinching etc.
- Importance for school (Writing, turning a page, cutting with scissors etc.)
- Some ways to develop these includes giving toddlers small raisins/peas to pinch and eat, give them chalk (make sure they don't put it in their mouths) to write/draw/scribble on the paving/trampoline which gets washed away by rain. Reading skills, how do young children start to read? Reading skills actually start to develop in preschool. One way is through parents reading to their children. Some tips for parents to help their children develop reading skills include:

- Make sure your children has access to books.

- In a slow fluent motions, glide your finger under the words as you read the words. This teaches children that they should read in a fluent motion.

- Ask questions about the story. This helps to develop memory and comprehension skills.
