South Africa’s Bill of Rights includes the right to “have the environment protected, for the benefit of present and future generations”. It is fitting that South Africans celebrate Human Rights on the same day as the United Nations’ International Day of the Forests because the right to a healthy environment is enshrined in our Constitution. We will be marking the International Day of the Forests by planting at least 2250 trees nationwide on the day after Human Rights Day - 22nd March 2017. You can get involved by calculating and offsetting your carbon footprint in the link below, or getting your company involved in a tree planting team-building event.
