STEP AHEAD EDUCARE LAUNCHES 2026 PARENT EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME WITH INSPIRING WORKSHOP
Step Ahead Educare officially launched its 2026 Parent Empowerment Programme (PEP) with an inspiring and impactful workshop held on 21 February 2026 at the Mabille Park branch .
The session, titled:
“Consistency Creates Security – Empowering Parents to Build Structure, Routine and Connection – at Home and Away,” was presented by Dr Anja Human-Hendricks, a registered Social Worker from the University of the Western Cape.
A POWERFUL MESSAGE FOR PARENTS
The workshop opened with prayer and a warm welcome from the Programme Coordinator, setting the tone for a meaningful morning focused on strengthening families.
Dr Human-Hendricks reminded parents that consistency begins with availability — not only being physically present, but emotionally available and responsive to their children’s needs.
Her key message was simple yet powerful:
Parents learned that:
• Availability and affection build a secure bond
• Routines create predictability at home
• Predictability improves behaviour outside the home
• Discipline must be rooted in love — teaching rather than
punishing
• Parenting is a lifelong learning journey
Parents actively participated in discussions and practical activities focused on building healthy routines that give children stability and confidence.
STRONG START TO 2026
Approximately 20 participants attended the first session of the year ,including parents, teachers from Step Ahead Educare, teachers from New Beginning Educare, the PEP Coordinator, and Mr and Mrs Venter, owners of Step Ahead Educare.
The session ended with refreshments, fellowship, and testimonials from parents who expressed how encouraged and empowered they felt.
WHY PEP MATTERS
The Parent Empowerment Programme is designed to equip parents with practical tools, confidence, and support. In today’s fast-paced world, many parents feel overwhelmed. PEP creates a safe space to learn, grow, and connect.
Leslie Selbourne, PEP Programme Manager, shared:
“Our greatest strength lies in our unity,” he said. “When parents rise up not only for their own child, but for every child in our care and community, we create a lasting legacy of hope, development, and opportunity. The door is open—come be a part of this journey.”
Charlene Venter, Owner of Step Ahead Educare, added:
“Routine is not just about structure—it is a gift we give to our children and ourselves. It is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to build trust, reduce anxiety, and encourage independence in children,”.
