🇿🇦 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬🇿🇦

Heritage Day at Apex Pinelands was all about celebrating who we are, where we come from, and what makes us unique.

From exploring culture and creativity in the classroom, to our scholars sharing their voices, dressing up, enjoying music and spending the day simply being together — it was a celebration filled with colour, laughter and plenty of Wolfpack energy.

Then, of course, no Apex celebration would be complete without some fun! Our scholars enjoyed the outdoor activities, from dominoes and slides to plenty of moments to just be kids.

A special thank you to Cincinnati Spur for your generosity and for helping make the day even more special with the delicious food. We truly appreciate your support of our Wolfpack.

Today our boys played their first-ever soccer matches away against Koeberg High School — and what a great start.

Well done to all the boys who represented Apex Pinelands today. They played with heart and gave it their all.

A special thank you to Mrs. Effendi and Ms. Carolissen for supporting the boys and making sure they were fed and looked after.

𝟖 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝟖 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Today, we celebrate 8 months of our school.

There is something truly special about being part of a school that is being built right in front of your eyes. Our first group of scholars have watched it happen every day — one brick, one wall and one new space at a time.

They arrive each morning and see something new. Another brick has been laid. Another part of the school has taken shape. What was once an idea is slowly becoming the place we call home.

The beautiful part is that our scholars aren't just watching the school grow — they are growing with it.

We are proud of how far we've come, and even more excited for what lies ahead.

𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗨𝗣 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦

Our STEP UP Intervention is about giving our parents practical tools to better support their children.

As part of the intervention, our parents joined a RealDeal Trust workshop focused on wellness, understanding our children and knowing how to support them through the challenges they face.

The session was practical, honest and interactive. Parents had the opportunity to learn, share and reflect on what they can do differently at home.

Now, we hear directly from them.

Our parents share what stood out for them, what they learnt and how they plan to use these tools to support their children.

Their message is simple: when we equip ourselves, we are better equipped to support our children.

𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗨𝗣 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥

At Apex Pinelands, we believe that wellness is a shared responsibility. As part of our STEP UP Intervention, we are excited to partner with RealDeal Trust to support the wellness of our scholars, parents and teachers.

The programme takes a holistic approach to wellness. It looks at how parents can support their children, how teachers can support scholars in the school environment, and how scholars can develop practical skills to support themselves.

The sessions are interactive and focus on practical tools that can be used in everyday life. We explore different types of support, self-regulation and strategies that are relevant to our communities and the realities we face.

We have started with our first group of parents and are excited to continue this work with more of our school community. We look forward to seeing these conversations and practical tools become part of an ongoing approach to wellness at Apex Pinelands.

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 – 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦

Some of our Grade 8 scholars recently had the opportunity to be part of a STEM and coding intervention at Pinelands Library.

Opportunities like these are so important because they allow our scholars to learn outside the traditional classroom and be exposed to skills, technology and possibilities that can shape their future.

This is what meaningful community partnership looks like. Our libraries and other community organisations play an important role in reaching out to schools, creating opportunities and investing in our young people.

We are grateful to Pinelands Library for opening its doors to our scholars and for being part of their learning journey. When the school and community work together, our children benefit.

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 – 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦

Our Grade 1 scholars recently received a very special visit from members of the Pinelands CPF.

With our little ones learning about animals, the visit was a perfect fit. They got to see the police dogs up close, learn about the important work they do and, of course, ask plenty of questions! The excitement and curiosity on their faces made the experience even more special.

This is why community involvement matters. When organisations such as our local police reach out to schools and share their time, knowledge and experience, learning becomes real for our scholars.

Thank you for coming out to our school and creating such a memorable experience for our Grade 1's. It truly takes a community working together to give our children the best opportunities possible.

This was one of those days that reminds us that learning happens far beyond the classroom. Our Apex Pinelands scholars had the opportunity to step out, experience something new and learn in a completely different setting.

A heartfelt thank you to Pinelands Library , Amazon.com and Tangible Games for making this possible. We really appreciate the opportunity given to our scholars.

Seeing them getting involved, asking questions and giving things a try made the day even more special. These are the experiences that will stay with them.

We are incredibly proud to welcome Ms. Carelse, Principal of Apex Pinelands Primary, to the Apex Pinelands team. We look forward to the continued impact of her leadership and the difference she will make in our school community.

We would also like to Ms. Schilder, Principal of Apex Stellenbosch Primary, and wish her every success as she begins this exciting journey with Apex.
