✨️Harmony's Got Talent✨️

Sports, Arts and Culture Edition

The past few weeks have been filled with the most incredible sporting and Arts and Culture extra- and co-curricular activities!

SPORT
Soccer

Malachi Adams, Grade 2A, was scouted at his former soccer club earlier this year, and jetted off to Johannesburg to play for Mamelodi Sundowns FC! This is a start to what could be an incredible career playing national and international football. We could not be more excited to watch Malachi's future unfold, and we wish him all of the very best!

Cross Country

Our Cross Country team spent every Friday of Terms 2 and 3 preparing for the Western Province Championship race that took place at Tygervalley Northlink College, on Saturday, 15 August.

4 our talented long distance runners qualified to participate, and they represented our school with pride, showing good sportsmanship, respectful behaviour and positive community engagement. The hilly course got the best of our boys, but we could not be more proud of their performance.

ARTS AND CULTURE
Choir

Our choir made history on Thursday, 13 August when they became the first choir established at Harmony Primary to participate in the School Arts Festival at the Artscape Theatre! The members of the choir took to the stage and filled the night air with angelic voices, leaving the audience completely captivated. We are excited to grow the choir and enter more festivals to showcase the incredible talent at our school.

We are SO proud of our learners for flying the Harmony Primary flag high, and representing our school at these prestigious events.

Mr. Roy Erfort
Principal of Harmony Primary School 1994 - 2009

Mr. Erfort was well loved by the community and parents of Harmony Primary alike. He had their support throughout his time as principal.

He knew the learners by their names, and built lasting relationships with learners, parents and the greater community of the school. He was a fair and just Principal, known for always having had an open-door policy for his staff members.

He was instrumental in sourcing funding for the improvement of the school and always went above and beyond for the learners. He had a warm, friendly personality and went the extra mile for his staff.

He was respected and well-loved, and left a lasting legacy at Harmony Primary School. The school community continues to stand behind his family in the wake of this loss.

Rest in eternal peace, Mr Erfort

Our Cross Country Team had an incredible term! Of the 3 races our school attended, most of the team finished in the Top 10 in their respective age divisions.

HUGE congratulations to Rawson Johanne who finished in first place in two of the races, and won a R1000 gift voucher from SportsSA! What an achievement!

We are so excited to see these athletes compete in the remaining events, and wish them all the best as they prepare for the Championships coming up in Term 3 🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️

On Friday 29 May, the staff and learners of Harmony Primary School gathered to say farewell to a very special gentleman.

Mr Williams, the foreman of the school, was honoured at a special assembly where learners and teachers alike, shared memories of years gone by. Mr Williams was not your average foreman. He was a friend and confidant to a number of teachers, and a father-figure to many a learner.

He served the school with dedication, and was always ready to help where needed.

The staff, learners, and greater Harmony Primary community wish Mr Williams a happy retirement, and a well deserved rest.

Go well! Thank you for guarding over our school 🫡
