On behalf of the club, we warmly congratulate Danie Needham on stepping into the role of President for Chuckle 'n Chirp Toastmasters Club 2026/2027.

We still remember your very first Icebreaker - those early exchanges, the courage to stand up, and the spark we could already see. Since then, your journey has been marked by consistent effort, curiosity, and a genuine desire to grow. Meeting after meeting, you’ve shown up, leaned in, and embraced the spirit of learning that defines Chuckle 'n Chirp.

It makes this moment all the more special as we now welcome you stepping up to lead the club as 2026/2027 President. Seeing you recognise excellence back then and now becoming someone who carries that torch forward - is something we’re truly proud of.

We’re excited for the year ahead under your leadership, and we know you’ll continue to inspire all of us to grow, together.

There’s something quite special about watching people realise they can do this.

Over the past two weeks, Chuckle 'n Chirp Toastmasters Club has had the privilege of facilitating the first 2026 Speechcraft cohort, for Capitec. The growth in such a short space of time has been incredible to witness.

Day 1 was really about stepping across the line of fear.

For some, that meant introducing themselves confidently to a room full of colleagues. For others, it was surviving their first impromptu Table Topic or standing up to deliver an Icebreaker speech despite very visible nerves.

And yet, speech by speech, something started shifting.

People who began the morning apologising for being “nervous about public speaking” were standing up later in the day with clearer structure, stronger eye contact, and a growing sense of confidence. You could almost see the mindset changing in real time:

“I’m nervous” becoming “Maybe I can actually do this.”

Day 2 took things a step further.

The focus moved from simply speaking to communicating with impact - persuasive speaking, vocal variety, body language, purposeful messaging, and intentional word choice.

What stood out most was how quickly people began applying the tools. Participants who relied heavily on notes on Day 1 started speaking more naturally. Quiet voices became more expressive. Voices slowed down, and became more audible. Feedback became more thoughtful and encouraging. The room itself became more confident.

And perhaps that’s the real value of public speaking coaching.

It is not about creating “perfect speakers”. It is about helping people find clarity, presence, confidence, and the ability to communicate ideas under pressure - skills that matter deeply in leadership, teamwork, and everyday professional life.

We look forward to Day 3 as we wrap up a very promising Speechcraft journey filled with growth, learning, and the courage to speak up.
