RESEARCH THAT STARTS CONVERSATIONS. RESEARCH THAT CREATES IMPACT.

The TSIBA Symposium brought together thought leadership, rigorous research and real-world perspectives in a powerful afternoon of knowledge exchange.

Held on 3 September 2026 at the TSIBA Auditorium, the Symposium showcased cutting-edge research from our academic leaders and PhD scholars, exploring the complex questions shaping business, society and our future.

From global financial shockwaves and their impact on South African markets, to the evolving dynamics of digital consumer behaviour on Instagram, and the intersection of Indigenous governance, modern leadership and the River Club development in Cape Town, the discussions demonstrated the value of research that is both locally grounded and globally relevant.

At TSIBA, we believe research should not remain within the pages of an academic paper. It should challenge perspectives, inform practice, inspire dialogue and contribute meaningfully to society.

Our sincere appreciation goes to our speakers:
Dr Jakubose Sibanda, Ms Boitumelo Sephaka (PhD Scholar), and Mr Earl-Djehuti / Kabbo Erasmus (PhD Scholar) for sharing their research and insights.

Thank you also to Elsa Marman, our host, for guiding the programme and creating space for meaningful conversation.

A special highlight of the event was the announcement of the TSIBA Symposium Student Competition winner SISONKE NOCANDA, who received a R500 Shoprite voucher celebrating student engagement and participation in the Symposium experience.

The Symposium reminded us that when research meets context, curiosity meets action, and knowledge meets purpose, we create opportunities to shape more sustainable futures.

ROOTS & RUNWAY | A Celebration of Heritage, Identity & Belonging 🌍🇿🇦✨

Before we walked the runway, our ancestors walked the paths that shaped us. Before we wore our heritage, generations before us lived it, protected it and passed it down. Today, we carry their stories with pride. ❤️

This Heritage Day, TSIBA came alive with colour, culture, rhythm and the beautiful diversity that makes us who we are. Under the theme “Roots & Runway,” our campus became more than just a place of learning; it became a celebration of identity, a meeting place of cultures and a reminder that although our stories may begin in different places, they can come together to create something extraordinary.

Every traditional garment told a story. Every dance carried a memory. Every language spoken reminded us of the richness of our roots. And every step on the runway was a declaration of pride in where we come from and the generations whose shoulders we stand on.
At TSIBA, we believe that embracing our heritage is not simply about remembering the past; it is about understanding who we are as we build the future. Our roots ground us, our diversity strengthens us, and our shared humanity brings us together. 🌿 Different cultures. Different languages. Different traditions. One TSIBA family.

As we celebrate Heritage Day, may we never forget that our greatest inheritance is not only what has been passed down to us, but also what we choose to preserve, celebrate and pass on to the generations that follow.
