In the early hours of today, students of the University of Cape Town took it to the streets to block entrances into the university as we remain firm in our stance - that for as long as some students are financially excluded, the University can’t go on as normal.

ICYMI, in yesterday’s mass meeting, our Chairperson gave a message of support to all affected students, that for as long as they remain financially excluded, we shall never surrender, nor retreat.

Wednesday, fighters gathered at the University main offices, by Bremner Building to demonstrate their anger towards Financial Exclusion.

Today, fighters took some of their time and spent it assisting students with luggages at the Cape Town Bus Station.
With our minimal assistance to students - We still believe there is still much work to be done.

Last night, ground forces of the 26 July movement had an intensive directive meeting, discussing our way forward until all eligible students are registered.

Yesterday, at the Parents orientation, student leaders representing different cohorts of student led a peaceful demonstration to voice out the issues students are currently faced with.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Mosa Moshabela came down to read our posters. We hope he has received the message.
& our message is clear, Sizofunda Ngenkani.

Today, fighters were stationed at Middle Campus, outside Fees & Financial Aid offices, to assist students with res, fees & academic issues.

♦️CURRENT SITUATION AT UCT TRANSIT RES♦️
Yesterday, the 29th of January, the SRC informed students that they have secured TRANSIT accommodation for students in extended term accommodation.
This is how the TRANSIT accommodation looks like, inhumane and unsafe to the core. Students stay 12 of them in one tiny room
Students were also informed that they will be charged R350 per day to live in such conditions.
No food provided and no security at all. Downstairs is a tavern, where loud music plays the whole day.
The place is also far from campus and students can not utilise school shuttles.
This is the best that the SRC could do for students.
