Pictured here are gigantic jets shooting up from a thunderstorm last week toward the Himalayan Mountains in China and Bhutan. The composite image captured four long jets that occurred only minutes apart. Gigantic jets, documented only in this century, are a type of lightning discharge that occurs between some thunderstorms and the Earth's ionosphere high above them.

.art is busy painting our Endangered Pelargonium fergusoniae. Previoualy known from only 5 subpopulations remaining after decimation by Habitat loss and degradatio, we located this population near Swellendam while collectimg.for the Overberg Renosterveld Threatened Lowland Habitat display.

Quite small and delicate to paint, no other way than through a magnifying glass and still no 0 paintbrush strokes could be too thick for the detail!
