Classes are conducted over two successive Saturdays.
Times: 09h30 – 12h30
Skill level: Beginner
Pre-requisites: None
Minimum 3 students and maximum 8 students per class.
This two-lesson epoxy resin pouring course was designed for those who are interested in learning the techniques involved with pouring epoxy resin. We teach students to make a cheese board serving platter using live edge wood and cast epoxy resin.
In class #1, students will be taught how to select and prepare timber, create moulds, mix epoxy and dyes, pour and cure epoxy. We cover theory and trade secrets on how to achieve a successful resin pour.
In class #2, we break apart the moulds and begin the sanding and polishing process. You will cut, shape, and router the final design of your board. Once a perfect polish has been achieved we then cover various finishing options available such as oiling and board care.

Foundations of Woodwork course.

All three of our Foundation in Woodwork Courses (Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced) comprise of five lessons of about two-hour duration each.
Students can start at any of these three levels, depending on your previous experience with woodwork.
After a level is completed, there is no obligation to carry on with the others not yet done.
All classes are conducted at our workshop in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.
We start with the Beginners, then go on to the Intermediate & Advanced.

Maximum 12 students per class.
This course is for more advanced students who have some previous experience with woodwork tools and/or technical background with power tools. At a minimum, we ask that you have used or will be able to operate a power drill on your own.
There are no prerequisites required and we encourage you to give it a try.
The course is based on using melamine chipboard & other sheet material boards that are commonly used for kitchen and bedroom built-in cupboards.
The course was designed to help students better understand the built-in cupboard standards and processes in South Africa. Ultimately we aim for our students to confidently design, build and install cupboards, either as DIY projects or be in a better position to start their own businesses.

During the course, students build a bedside unit to take home. This unit contains almost all of the elements commonly found during a typical build.
A list of essential tools is also provided during the course itself. Students do not need to bring anything with them.
There is also an emphasis on the use of computer software when designing cupboards, as well as using the software to produce cutting lists. The making up of such lists on a manual basis is also dealt with.
Our aim is to put students in a position where they will be able, with some practice, to build both kitchen and bedroom cupboards on their own.
