This weekend I did something I've always wanted to do. This was on my bucket list for a while.

Happy to report that I am funny😆.

Following my hearts desire despite my fear has been something about myself I really appreciate. I'm sharing this in the hopes that it ignites the light in you to do the same.

Want to simplify your life? Tell the truth.

Tell people what you don't like, tell them what hurts you and what triggers you. Stop being dishonestly polite. We so often withhold our truth because of the fear of hurting others, that others won't like us or that we will lose people.

But God designed it so that you attract your people with your honesty and truth.

If they cannot handle your truth, your dislikes, or cannot love your authenticity THEY'RE not your people

It's okay to let them go.

There are 8 billion people on this earth, trust me your tribe can handle and love you!

So you remember when I said that MotivatingMinds was sunsetting and moving over to another platform? Well God had other plans.

One of my dear friends, a teacher and community leader Athina Hendricks stepped in and convinced me otherwise. She reminded me how important, and necessary, this work was in our communities and in our underprivileged schools. So much so that she arranged a leadership workshop with inspiring speakers, empowering activities and shared great resources at Oval North High School.

So does this mean MotivatingMinds is still open to business - the answer to this is YES!

Seems like the supreme has spoken, our work is not done yet.

Hey ya'll - its been a while :)

This one is for those who have chosen Passion over Paycheck.

In my career I have done many different things and filled many different roles. These roles included being an artist selling my artwork at markets, to a dancer choreographing pieces for various shows, a motivational speaker doing workshops at schools to creating my own YT channel trying to inspire students to love Maths - to mention a few. These are vastly different roles but the common thread in all was my desire to do what moves me, the desire to follow that which makes me happy and truly use my gifts for the enhancement of others. My journey has been incredibly fulfilling to say the least BUT has come with some interesting challenges. One of which I want to talk about today - THE DISRESPECT FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE CHOSEN THE PAYCHECK.

Let me explain😊.

At this phase in my life (mid-30s) I have a lot of people around me who are doing pretty well for themselves financially. You know - those who have followed the rule book - higher education, good corporate jobs, married, children, big house, new cars (and the blown up canvas's, in the lounge, with the denim and white outfits😁) etc. And although this was not the life I chose, I was always accepting and supportive of every phase of their lives. But slowly started seeing a shift.

These people started acting weird😒, whenever I would share an exciting goal or dream they would respond with a discouraging comment or tell me to prepare for the worst case scenario😑. They would make subtle comments about my lifestyle and standard of living. They would make comments about how I can improve this or that by buying this or that. They would show up late when we made plans and just do things that were generally disrespectful. As a fairly sensitive person I picked this up very quickly and upon reading and reflecting I have learnt:

1. Some people will judge you solely based on your income. They don't care whether or not you are making a positive impact on the planet, whether or not you're happy with where you are. Their thinking is - if you're not on their financial level you don't deserve their respect.

2. Some people have started earning huge amounts of money before working on their character, integrity or emotional regulation and because they have money they really believe they are better than you.

3. Some people would have loved to follow their passion but because of family pressures, responsibilities and the need to provide they never did. So I reflect to them the life they did not pursue and I better not make a success of it because then they will regret the choices they made.

So what's the point of this post?

I want to encourage those who are being disrespected for choosing passion over a paycheck. I want to let you know this world needs you! This world needs you to teach those kids, help that community, support that group, create that channel, continue that business, make that art. Do not allow anyone to make you feel less because you have chosen this path. Making a difference feels so much better than making millions!!!!!! Ask anyone who has had all the money in the world - they always want to shift to rather doing good for others. Stay the course, bring your light.

DON'T BE DISCOURAGED - WE NEED YOU!!

Here are 4 books I have used the last 2 years to help process my thoughts, store ideas and set goals. I set 5 goals this year, three of which were to:

✅ take a trip abroad
✅ buy a new car cash
✅ monetize my YT channel

3monts left and 2 more goals to go💪.

We have to be intentional with our direction. There are so many distractions in modern day life. We actively have to set goals and daily routines to match the life we want. Never stop growing and evolving.

Don't you just love it when you get to that age where you quietly watch how people treat you and the level of respect they give you, your life and your time and you just decide based on their actions if they deserve your light and your energy. No more needing people to like you, no more hoping they'd respect or invite you. The only thing you're concerned about is are you loving, honouring and respecting yourself.
