On 26 June 2026, the Western Cape CET College successfully hosted a Voter Education and Awareness Campaign at the Masiyile Community Learning Centre (CLC), held at the Bulumko High School Hall in Khayelitsha, and extended its outreach to Baphumelele Children’s Home in Khayelitsha.

At Masiyile CLC, the College Principal, Mr Zita, together with the Deputy Principal: Academic Services, Mr Ndaba, and our dedicated lecturers, engaged with community members by sharing valuable information about the Western Cape CET College programmes, encouraging lifelong learning, skills development, and highlighting that our programmes are accessible to all and offered free of charge, with no age limit.

In partnership with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), community members were educated on the importance of voter registration, participating in democratic processes, and making informed choices. Eligible attendees were also assisted with voter registration.

The outreach further extended to Baphumelele Children’s Home, where Mr Zita, Mr Ndaba, and IEC representatives engaged with staff and young people, emphasising the importance of early voter registration from the age of 16, as well as the value of active citizenship. The team also shared information about Western Cape CET College programmes, reinforcing that opportunities for education and skills development are open to everyone, with no age restrictions.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the IEC, the staff and learners at Masiyile CLC, and Mam’Rose, the Managing Director of Baphumelele Children’s Home, for their warm reception and participation. Together, we continue to empower communities through education, civic awareness, and lifelong learning.
