๐Ÿ†โฑ๏ธ MINUTE TO WIN IT โ€“ VOX VICTOR EDITION! โฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ†

What a day! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿช๐Ÿฅš

Our learners teamed up in pairs and took on hilarious Minute to Win It challenges, putting their speed, coordination, creativity and teamwork to the test!

๐Ÿฅš Egg & Spoon Race
๐Ÿงฆ Sock Basketball
๐Ÿงป Toilet Roll Mummy
โœˆ๏ธ Paper Plane Challenge
๐Ÿช Cookie Face
๐Ÿฌ Smarties Challenge

There was plenty of cheering, LOTS of laughter, some serious concentrationโ€ฆ and more than a little flour involved! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Each round earned our teams points towards the overall leaderboard, but more importantly, it was wonderful seeing our learners encouraging one another, working together and simply having FUN! ๐Ÿ’™

Well done to every single learner who joined in and gave it their best. ๐ŸŒŸ

Small games. BIG fun! โฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Today our Grade 6 learners took Natural Sciences off the page and put it into practice! ๐Ÿ’ก

Learners built their own simple electrical circuits and then used them to test different materials to discover which were:

โšก Conductors โ€“ materials that allow electric current to flow through them.

๐Ÿšซ Insulators โ€“ materials that do not allow electric current to flow through them.

The best part? Instead of simply being told which materials conduct electricity, learners could test, observe and discover the answers for themselves. ๐Ÿ”

Hands-on experiments like these help learners connect scientific terminology to something they can actually see happening โ€“ making concepts easier to understand and remember.

๐Ÿ’ก Build it. Test it. Observe it. Understand it ๐Ÿ’™

This week, our learners became creature creators โ€” and apparently, normal animals were simply not exciting enough. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We met:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Baboosha โ€“ the fire-breathing dragonfly
๐Ÿฆ„ Unilion โ€“ the magnificent โ€œMother of Creaturesโ€
๐ŸŒŠ The Meg โ€“ part shark, part bull, part tentacled terror
๐Ÿน๐Ÿง› Vampire Hamster โ€“ cute... but approach with caution!
๐Ÿฆ… And even a three-headed elemental griffin!*

The best part? These incredible creatures started as our learnersโ€™ own drawings and ideas. We then brought their imaginations to life through AI, showing them what can happen when creativity and technology work together. ๐Ÿคฉ

There were some VERY specific instructions along the way... and apparently I now know far more about mythical creature anatomy than I did this morning. ๐Ÿ˜‚

At ๐•๐จ๐ฑ ๐•๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ, learning doesn't always have to stay neatly inside the lines.

Sometimes you draw the creature.

Sometimes you write its story.

And sometimes... you discover that your cute little hamster is secretly a vampire. ๐Ÿน๐Ÿง›๐Ÿ˜‚

A teeny sneak peak into some daily activities ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜

Did you know what you have the opportunity to ๐Ÿซง POP IN ๐Ÿซง this week and experience our "vibe" first hand??

Sometimes, itโ€™s okay to be the ๐ฌ๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐š ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐ŸŸฆ
Sometimes, itโ€™s okay to be the triangle.
Sometimes, itโ€™s okay to be slightly oval and not perfectly round too! ๐Ÿ”ถ

We spend so much time trying to help children ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ญ ๐ข๐ง โ€” fit into classrooms, fit into curriculums, fit into expectations, fit into social situations, fit into a version of education that we have decided is โ€œnormalโ€.

But perhaps we need to ask a different question:

Not every child can cope in a mainstream environment. And this isnโ€™t only true for neurodivergent children.

There are children sitting in classrooms every day who are ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ž๐, ๐š๐ง๐ฑ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ, ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  โ€” and even those who have little interest in what the curriculum has to offer.

Children who are capable of so much more than their marks, behaviour or ability to sit quietly at a desk might suggest.

Education should give children a foundation โ€” but it should also give them ๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ.

Room to discover what theyโ€™re good at.
Room to pursue the things that make them come alive and be happy.
Room to learn differently.
Room to make mistakes.

A curriculum should be a It should never become something so rigid that the individual child disappears behind it.

Teach the maths. Teach the language. Teach the science.

But also notice the child who can build incredible things with their hands. The child who comes alive when they draw. The gamer who is fascinated by coding. The child who daydreams about chartering a boat or studying sharks. The child who loves animals, music, engines, sport, baking, nature or technology.

We need to become better at recognising that

Be mindful of the child in front of you.

Support the curriculum.
