What does mud FEEL like? What does it SMELL like? And what happens when we add just a little more water…?

Our mud kitchen became the perfect outdoor classroom for Senses Week!

As our Little Lights squished, scooped, poured, stirred and created some very questionable-looking recipes, they were exploring the world around them through their senses.

They could feel the cool, squishy mud, smell the earth and leaves, see how the textures changed as they mixed and hear all the wonderful sounds of outdoor play.

Sensory experiences like these encourage children to investigate, compare, describe and problem-solve, all while doing what little ones do best… getting completely, gloriously MESSY.

No Michelin stars awarded just yet, but the sensory experience? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

👀 Binoculars ON… blindfolds ON!

Our Little Stars and Twinkles have been exploring their senses this week and discovering that there’s more than one way to understand the world around us.

First, our little explorers made their own binoculars and put their sense of sight to work. Then came the blindfolds… and suddenly their noses had a much bigger job to do! 👃✨

Taking away one sense, even just for a moment, encourages children to focus more closely on the others, noticing smells, sounds and sensations they might normally overlook.

A little bit of silliness, a whole lot of curiosity… and some very busy noses! 💛

Designed especially for curious little explorers aged 2 years, this is a warm, welcoming space where little hands can create, little feet can discover, and little hearts can feel safe.

Every corner has been thoughtfully prepared to encourage play, imagination, learning and plenty of happy moments together.

Because we believe a child's very first classroom should feel just like a second home.

Emergency! Tiny helpers reporting for duty.

Our Little Stars had a busy week helping everyone in town.

They carefully looked after paper patients by covering all their ouchies with plasters and became firefighters by making sure every piece of the flames found its way back into the building. 🚒🔥

Tiny hands. Big jobs. Very proud little helpers.

This week our Sunrays learned all about People That Help Us by becoming police officers for the day.

Each child proudly designed their own police badge and stepped into their role with so much confidence 🚔

Safe to say we’ve got a very capable team looking after Little Lights.

Calling all helpers… we had some VERY important jobs to do this week.

Our Fireflies explored the world of People That Help Us by getting creative and stepping into some big roles.

They created dramatic fire scenes for their firefighters to tackle (we may have made their jobs extra difficult 🤭), crafted their own doctors (can you deal?) and decorated police cars ready for action 🚨

Safe to say our community is in very good hands.

To all the dads, grandpas and special father figures in our Little Lights family,thank you for all the ways you show love every day.

For the measuring, building, carrying, fixing, teaching, adventuring… and for being the safe place little hands always return to.
