📚 Give Your Child the Gift of Reading for Life! 📚

Research shows that owning books from a young age can transform a child’s future. When children have their own books, it sparks a love of reading, encourages sharing stories at home, and strengthens early development.

Yet, in South Africa, 80% of children can’t read for meaning by Grade 4 — a crisis that can affect their entire learning journey. Without early literacy skills, children are far more likely to fall behind at school.

💡 If your child is struggling with reading, now is the time to act.
The Reading for Readiness Program is designed to help children in the foundation phase overcome reading challenges and build strong literacy skills.

Fed-up teacher quits with shocking warning 'These kids can't even read!'

Short Synopsis:

Children are unable to read because things have been read to them or they use AI and technology to write essays for them, etc., so they cannot comprehend and lack critical skills like thinking for themselves.

She asked her students to write short responses or even 5 sentences to a question and………and they will write two sentences and tell her they can’t think of anything else to say or they will tell her ‘’you get the point’’ meaning that she’s supposed to know what they want to say without writing it down in full.

Reading will help your child to develop writing skills, improve focus, critical thinking, expand their vocabulary and improve memory!

One of the reasons for low literacy rates amongst children is..........

Home Environment: The home environment plays a crucial role in helping children develop reading skills.

A 2023 National Reading Survey found that nearly 3 in 5 homes do not have a single fiction or nonfiction book. A lack of books and a culture of reading at home can have a direct impact on a child's readiness for school.

If your child has reading challenges, don't let him/her become a lack of reading for meaning statistic. Enrol your child in the proven Reading for Readiness Program! DM me for details or email me at [email protected]

Tongue Twisters

First, try this simple but difficult tongue twister. Say it as many times as you can (at least three times).

She sells seashells on the seashore

Now, try this trickier tongue twister. (To minimise the risk of injury, I'd just say it once, if I were you.🤣🤣)

She sells seashells on the seashore
The shells she sells are surely seashells
So, if she sells shells on the seashore,
I’m sure she sells seashore shells.

🗣️ Tongue Twisters. This activity focuses on specific sounds and sound combinations that can be tricky for young learners. It's fun, engaging, and helps to build muscle memory in the mouth for making new sounds.

💬Tongue twisters are great because they isolate and repeat specific phonemes (individual sounds) playfully. This repetition strengthens the muscles involved in speech and helps children to distinguish between similar sounds. The challenging nature of the exercise also encourages them to concentrate on the precise movements of their tongue, lips, and jaw.

🌪️This repeated practice is crucial for developing the correct motor skills for speech. It’s a low-pressure way to practice pronunciation without the stress of a formal lesson.

👨🏻‍🎓Enrol your child into the Reading for Readiness Program so that they can practice their pronunciation through fun, laughter and motivating activities like tongue twisters!

Want to improve your English reading skills but not sure what book is suitable for your level? Use the 5-finger rule!

📚Don’t read what you cannot understand. That will give you nothing but feelings of frustration.

📚If the book you’re reading makes you scratch your head every three words, put the book down and look for something more suitable to your level. Something easier.

📚Reading should be a pleasurable activity that makes you look forward to doing it. It shouldn’t become a hurdle.

📚So you can just read what you can mostly understand. You can then gradually challenge yourself with more complex texts.

📚But say you want to read a particular book. How can you know if it is suitable for your level?

Use the 5-finger rule.

It’s a useful tool to help you select your reading material.
