Saxophone Lessons at MPMA 🎷🎶
Our saxophone instructor, Ryan Hendricks, explains what happens during a saxophone lesson.
From developing proper technique and tone production, to bridging the gap between theory and practical application, students learn to express themselves musically while growing in confidence as both musicians and performers.

Part 2: Aural Lessons in Action
What do aural lessons look like for our junior musicians?
Through engaging listening activities, our younger learners develop the musical skills that become the foundation for confident playing and singing. They learn to recognise which note sounds higher or lower, listen carefully and reproduce rhythms by clapping them back, and strengthen their sense of pitch by echoing simple melodic patterns.
These playful exercises sharpen listening skills, improve rhythm and pitch recognition, strengthen musical memory, and build confidence from an early age.
At MPMA, we believe that great musicians don't just learn to play—they learn to listen.
Aural lessons are an essential part of every musician's journey.
Our instructor, Sherri Adams, shares why developing your listening skills is just as important as mastering your instrument.
Aural training helps musicians recognise pitch, rhythm, harmony and melody more accurately, building greater confidence in rehearsals, performances and music examinations.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we'll showcase some of the engaging activities we do with our younger learners, and discover how sharpening your ears can transform the way you make music.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela
Today, we are reminded of the life and legacy of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, a leader whose courage, humility, and unwavering belief in the power of education continue to shape generations.
As an educational social enterprise, we recognise that education is more than knowledge; it is a tool that unlocks potential, eradicates poverty, builds communities, and inspires hope. Every programme, is an investment intervention in a brighter future.
On this commemorative day, may we each find meaningful ways to serve others, uplift our communities, and continue building the South Africa Madiba envisioned.
Happy Nelson Mandela Day.
