I love Thomas so much that it hurts that I will be leaving the school it is awesome there I wouldn't think of a better school from the junior to the senior school it has been the best 7 years of my life the teachers are amazing and I will always cherish the memories that I made in that school
If you are from the Cape Flats or wait let me hit it home, if you are from Hanover Park and anyone or any system wants to label you for where you come from just remind them that our current coaches for our national soccer teams (male and female) are both from Hanover Park. So don't let society limit you, don't let your upbringing determine you, make quality decisions and reach for your goals.
Thomas Wildschutt's very first school tour in 1983. Places we visited up the Garden route. George, Knysna, Outshoorn and Mossel Bay. Tour Organiser was Mr A Heemro. Principal at the time was Mr J Plaag.
So today was my first official day of retirement after 47years in education. I've been through all the name changes of departments, officials, curriculum. You name it. I've made many friends (and probably enemies🤔) with colleagues, learners and their parents over the years. I have fond memories of times writing out netball scorecards over a cup of tea or checking athletic registrations till late in the evenings. This is where many friendships were formed with colleagues from neighbouring schools. Really the good old days. For those who can remember... Steenberg Schools' Sports Union. I'm looking forward to being free of assessments and all the other admin that goes with it. I want to thank each and everyone for making my journey a special one. God bless you all. ♥️♥️♥️. My first class. Square Hill Primary 1974 and finally Marine Primary 2020. Merlyn Brittow. (My standard 3 teacher and netball coach at Thomas Wildschutt Senior Primary in 1983.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Mrs Brittow. On your special day I would like to thank you for the priceless gift that you are, which you gave me every single day – knowledge and education! By being my class teacher in std 3 , you added value to my life!
Hi can a grade seven teacher please contact me as I still have not received no communication regarding school work thank you
Hi. Please advise will there be an online learning resource during lockdown. Whatsapp group also? Need to keep my son working from home Grade 5
At Blue Route Mall. 7th and 8th Febraury 2020. 9am to 5pm. FREE Entry.
We all had that favourite teacher. The one that stood out from amongst the rest. Merlyn Brittow was my primary school std 3 class teacher, music teacher and netball coach. Year 1983. She had a warmth and joy that radiated from her. Her loving, kind, patient and caring nature endured me to her...

Some of what President Ramaphosa said tonight:

❗Adjusted Level 1 to remain as is.❗

•SA is one of the countries globally that set up tracking systems for the virus and he paid tribute to scientists who are world renowned and highly respected.
•Genome surveillance is being done by SA scientists. He gave a breakdown of the Omicron variant and highlighted that it is known for the spike in infections in Gauteng over the past two weeks and is showing up countrywide.
•Omicron is a variant of concern, and the next two weeks will reveal more about this variant as it's still being studied.
•The rise in infections from 2%to 9% is worrying and tends to speak to the emergence of a 4th Covid19 wave and new mutations.Early detection of this variant means we're better equipped to deal with it.
•Vaccines do work and over the next few days we will know how effective the vaccine is against Omicron. 57% of over 50s are vaccinated. He's calling on all unvaxed to vaccinate, which will reduce the impact of the 4th wave. We are not only protecting ourselves but we're helping our overburdened healthcare system, and protecting ourselves and others around us. We have a responsibility to ensure that all people in SA can travel, socialise and work safely. There are engagements currently with NEDLAC to make vaccines mandatory for certain sectors and activities. The task team will report to the National Command Council and refer it to Parliament.
•Mzansi must continue to mask up and follow all protocols.
•We must try and be outdoors or have good ventilation as much as possible when meeting people.
Mass gatherings should be changed to virtual formats.
•Raves and large Christmas parties are a no-no.

NCC met yesterday:

• Alert Level 1 to continue.
• NO further restrictions at this stage.
•All current regulations apply and remain the same.

•Situation will be monitored in another week, based on monitoring of the virus and how it's affecting Mzansi.

•Focus is on effective clinical governance. All hospital beds and oxygen supplies as for 3rd wave are being prepared for a 4th wave.

•Travel restrictions by other countries are deeply disappointing. This is not what the recent G20 summit has supported. These restrictions are completely unjustified and discriminatory. We call upon countries that have imposed travel bans to reverse their restrictions with immediate effect. There is no scientific justification in keeping these restrictions in place.

The emergence of the Omicron variant and increase in infections has made it clear we have to live with this virus for time to come.
Get vaccinated-the vaccine is safe and our best defence against this pandemic.

We should not panic.
We will endure, we will overcome and we will thrive.

Nkosi sikelel iafrika!

Following a devastating fire in Overcome that affected 3 grade 7 learners personally, along with 12 other families, Thomas Wildschutt's grade 7 teachers, particularly coordinator Ms Dowrie, embarked on a special food , bedding and clothing drive. This morning, a parent, representing the community, was present at the handover and later sent us photos from the Capricorn/ Overcome area. 📸 Ms M Dowrie

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has urged parents to confirm the placement of their children at schools for 2022, to better equip the department to ensure no learners are left behind. According to the department, parents have until tomorrow 25 June 2021 to “confirm” or “withdraw” admission applications at schools, preferably via the departments website. Presently, over 20 000 learners were accepted to more than one school, half of which were grade eight learners. Parents have seven days to confirm and submit applications with supporting documents to the school or district office. If parents have not yet submitted hard copies to the school, applications can be completed online.

“Tomorrow evening, the WCED will implement the next stage of the 2022 admissions process. Parents have had a month to decide which school they would like to accept or decline. Failing to do so by tomorrow evening will result in automatic placement in the first successful school based on their order of preference as submitted on the website. The WCED needs to know which schools have places available so we can assist learners who have not received a notification of placement,” read a statement.

Parents can check their children’s “Application Status” by logging onto https://admissions.westerncape.gov.za/admissions/login , under the “Track Application Status” banner.

Our Story

Co-ed school catering for the educative needs of 480 plus learners from 14 language groups/ communities, from South Africa and the rest of Africa. Although we are currently housed in prefabricated buildings, many of these structures are in need of urgent repair/ replacement.

Currently we cater to the educative needs of learners from various areas in and around the Southern Suburbs, including Lavender Hills, Lakeview, Westlake, Capricorn, Seawinds, Steenberg, Vrygrond, Masiphumelele, and other areas.

Many of our learners emanate from single-parent backgrounds where socio-economic issues are prevalent; our kids are exposed to many social ills including gangsterism, drug usage, alcoholism, domestic violence and other factors.

As we are currently facing financial difficulties, Thomas Wildschutt welcomes any donations to assist in our day-to-day operations. Contact our secretary, Ms Amos, at 084 498 2143 or email us at [email protected].
