The Bishops 1st XV vs SACS
With the winter season of rugby nearing its close, this was to be our last run on the Piley Rees for 2026. Disappointingly, it was not the result the boys were hoping for. Despite playing well in patches, the home team was kept under constant pressure by the visitors from SACS who allowed the hosts very few opportunities to run the ball. Thirteen tries in all nevertheless ensured great entertainment for the vast crowd of spectators around the field. The Boys in Blue now shift their focus to the big week ahead as they prepare for the short trip across to Rondebosch for next Saturday’s season finale.
Final score: Bishops (10) 22; SACS (31) 55

What a fantastic day for football at the Oaks, with the Bishops 1st XI hosting Oaklands High School under skies more fitting for summer than winter.
In a highly entertaining and competitive encounter, both teams showcased excellent quality and intent. The visitors struck first, taking an early lead, but Bishops responded well and found the equaliser before halftime to send the teams into the break locked at 1-1.
The second half provided plenty of excitement, with chances at both ends and several efforts narrowly missing the target. Despite the end-to-end action and attacking play from both sides, neither team could find a winner, and the match finished all square.
Final Score: Bishops 1st XI 1-1 Oaklands High School
The team continues to build momentum ahead of a massive fixture against Rondebosch next week, followed by the defence of their St Andrew’s title in Makhanda the following weekend.

Congratulations to Brent Cowden and Matthew Hume, who placed 1st in South Africa out of approximately 3,000 participants in the Coronation_SA Top Investor Challenge.
Tasked with managing a fictitious R1 million investment portfolio over two months, the pair navigated real-world investment scenarios to top the national leaderboard. Each won R30 000 in unit trusts, while Bishops received the challenge trophy and a R60 000 donation.
Thank you to Coronation CEO and Bishops past parent, Mr Anton Pillay, for presenting the awards at assembly this morning.

Last weekend, 10 members of the Astronomy Society headed to Sutherland for a memorable adventure. Between stargazing under some of the clearest skies in the world, exploring giant telescopes, discovering pre-dinosaur fossils, admiring vintage cars, spotting snow, and posing at the largest stop sign we’ve ever seen, there was one surprise none of us expected... an albino springbok!
Proof that an astronomy trip is about so much more than just stars.

Congratulations to U17A wicketkeeper-batsman Heimer Wegener, who recently represented Germany at the ICC U19 World Cup Qualifier in Guernsey. Heimer was named Fielder of the Tournament after taking four catches and completing four stumpings, adding five U19 international caps to his growing cricketing résumé. At just 16 years old, he remains eligible for Germany U19 selection for another three years. Well done, Heimer
