With only a few learners present, a rainy day, and assessments still needing attention, you could do both—keep assessments light and turn the day into a memorable learning experience.
Puddleduck Homeschool Centre
"Rainy days are for making memories too!" 🌧️🐴
With only a few learners at school today, we decided to make the most of the rainy weather. While we will still complete the necessary assessments, we believe learning should also be filled with joy, adventure, and hands-on experiences.
So today, we added a little horsey fun to brighten the day! After all, some of the best learning happens when children are smiling, exploring, and making special memories together.
At Puddleduck, we believe in balancing learning with laughter. ❤️🐴📚

At Puddleduck Homeschool we have discovered something shocking… 😱
Apparently children cannot survive on worksheets alone.
Who knew? 🤷🏼♀️😂
So yes… we do schoolwork, writing, reading, studying AND learning our 123’s and ABC’s… 📚✏️
BUT… every now and then we escape the classroom for very serious activities like:
🐐 Giving animals cuddles
🎨 Creating “masterpieces” for mom’s fridge
🏃 Running wild with zero direction
🌿 Touching grass professionally
😂 And practicing the art of simply being children
Because at Puddleduck Homeschool we believe happy kids learn better… and tired kids sleep better 😅💛

At Puddleduck Homeschool, little hands are busy and little minds are growing 🐥✏️
Right now, our learners at our Homeschool are hard at work — copying, tracing, and counting with such focus and determination 🤍
You can see the concentration in their eyes and the pride in every line they trace and every number they get right. These simple, quiet moments are where the real magic happens ✨
Each small step they take today is building confidence, independence, and a love for learning that will stay with them for years to come 🌿
We are so proud of them♥️

Some quick donkey love before the storm 🤎🌧️
There’s just something so special about these gentle souls… a little calm, a little cuddly, and full of quiet magic. Our Puddleduck days are never complete without some furry love and happy little moments like these.
Storm or sunshine, the animals always remind us to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the simple things 🐴✨

Assessments or animal spoils? 📚🐾
Decisions, decisions… 🤔✨
Well, clearly we chose animal spoils—because without them, Puddleduck School and Day-care Centre just wouldn’t be the same kind of fun! 🐄🐐🐓💛
At Puddleduck, learning doesn’t only happen behind books and desks… it happens in the fields, with muddy boots, gentle hands, and lots of animal love 🐾🌿.
Of course, assessments still matter 📖✏️, but we believe in balance. A little break to enjoy the simple joys of farm life brings refreshed minds, happy hearts, and even better learning afterwards 🌈😊.
Homeschool sneak-aways always turn into the most meaningful lessons—where laughter, curiosity, and nature come together 🌻🐾. And honestly… those are the moments our children will remember forever 💫💚

Fun fact about our Puddleduck children and egg collecting 🥚🐔🌾
Did you know that when our children collect eggs from the chicken coops, they are doing so much more than just farm chores?
At Puddleduck, egg collecting teaches:
🌼 Responsibility – The children know the hens depend on them to check the nests gently and regularly.
🌼 Confidence – There is something so special about holding a warm egg and knowing, “I did this!”
🌼 Gentleness & Respect – They learn how to move calmly, speak softly, and treat both animals and eggs with care.
🌼 Practical Life Skills – They see firsthand where food comes from, how it should be handled, and why hygiene matters.
🌼 Math & Counting Skills – Yes! We count, compare sizes, talk about colours, and sometimes even weigh them.
🌼 Science in Action – Discussions about how hens lay eggs, what they eat, and how we care for them naturally becomes part of the lesson.
And of course… there is always that magical moment when a child finds a freshly laid, still-warm egg. The excitement is priceless! ✨
At Puddleduck School and Day-care Centre, learning doesn’t only happen at desks — sometimes it happens in gumboots and sometimes even barefoot, in a chicken coop, with straw in your hair and joy in your heart. 🐔💛

Monday morning means serious business at Puddleduck! 📚✨
For those who have walked this beautiful journey with us, you’ll know our homeschool centre proudly caters for Grade 1 to 7 learners.
Yes, we are all about farm fun, muddy boots, happy hearts and hands-on learning 🐴🌻🍉 — but woven into all that magic is our structured Impaq curriculum.
And as much as we love feeding animals, planting seeds and exploring nature… every now and then we have to sit down, open those books, and WORK. 😉
Because growing clever minds is just as important as growing kind hearts.
At Puddleduck School and Day-care Centre we believe learning should be joyful — but also meaningful.
Farm fun + focused academics = the perfect balance.
Let’s make this week count!
