FAIRMONT CRICKET
On Thursday 21 September our Cricket players enjoyed their Celebration Dinner for the 2023 season. It was a great night where the outgoing Matrics were honoured and the newly selected 1st Team was celebrated along with the success that the 2023 season has brought.
It was special to hear from current WP Mens Cricket player Onke Nyaku. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and for inspiring our learners.
Thank you to Mr. Spelman and his team for making the dinner possible. A special word of thanks to our Hospitality Society for their service and efforts.

Congratulations to Chelsey Steyn (Grade 10) for her most recent achievements in Gymnastics.
Chelsey participated at the Western Cape WAG Gymnastics Championships in Saldanha on the 3rd of September where she achieved the following achievements at Level 9 ( age 14 and up):
🟢 1st place (Gold medal) for Floor
🟢 1st place (Gold medal) for Beam
🟢 3rd place (Bronze medal) for Vault
🟢 3rd place (Bronze medal) for Bar
2nd place overall for Level 9

FAIRMONT CULTURE AND SOCIETIES
This afternoon our SCA (Student Christian Association) group had the privilege of visiting MES Outreach Centre in Durbanville.
MES - stands for Mould, Empower and Serve and their vision is Changing the Heart of the city. Their primary focus is on assisting the homeless and less fortunate and our learners had the unique opportunity of hearing from beneficiaries of MES and how their lives have dramatically changed.
The learners left with a heart of gratitude but also with an attitude of wanting to get involved and assist. Thank you to Mrs. Franita Knudsen and her amazing team for the work that they are doing to change the heart of the city.

These 3 learners participated in the Western Cape WAG Gymnastics competition which was held in Saldanha on the 2nd of September 2023. They have qualified to represent the Western Cape Gymnastics team in the SA Women’s Artistic Gymnastic Championships which will be held in Pretoria on the 2nd of October 2023.
Some notable achievements:
🟢 Emilia won a gold medal on vault for Level 8 (14 years and older)
🟢 Cayla won 3 silver medals for floor, beam and vault for Level 8 (14 years and older). Cayla was also the overall winner receiving a 1st place and a gold medal out of 16 participants.
