Greetings from The Student Enrolment Management Unit (Semu) at The University of the Western Cape (UWC).

We have a page set up specifically for prospective grade 12 learners. Its called the UWC Future Students page.

We encourage all grade 12 learners to click like on the page so they can be kept up to date with all information relevant to admission criteria & for applying to UWC for 2021, etc.

It's also a great platform to ask questions.
If grade 12 learners would like to set up a personalised career guidance session, then they can also email us to make a booking: [email protected]

Thank you,
Semu UWC Future Students
Good afternoon and again congratulations on SP's 70th.

Allow me to share an extract from the tribute that Principals Brian Isaacs and Noor Moerat wrote about my father Andries Daniels with his passing and which as read at his funeral in 2001. Those that knew these individuals mentioned will appreciate it:
"The school moved to its present premises in Old Kendal Road, Diep River in 1952. An ex-student, Mr James Dreyer, recently remarked that Mr An Daniels was a firm disciplinarian with a booming voice and who commanded respect from his students.
Mr Cliffie Ravens who taught Mathematics at SP and who was a colleague, had this story to tell about Mr An Daniels. One morning Mr Ravens arrived a few minutes late for his Mathematics lesson and on the one side of him he had Mr An Daniels teaching Arithmetic to a class at the top of his voice and on the other side Mr Attie de Viliers teaching Latin in another class in his loud voice. Mr Ravens gave up and wrote on the board in his class: “Class, please attempt to answer the following questions.”
The next day Mr Ravens decided to go to his class a bit earlier than Mr Daniels and Mr de Villiers. Mr Ravens then started teaching Mathematics at the top of his voice. Mr Ravens heard not a sound coming from the two rooms. At the end of the period in the corridor Mr An Daniels said to Mr Ravens as they passed each other: “Daar is onderwysers met groot stemme by hierdie skool.”"

May their voices resound in the corridors of SP forever.

Remembering Dr Aadil Moerat

Remembering ex-student Dr Aadil Moerat

Remembering Dr Aadil Moerat R60 was worth around $12 US in early 1998. It’s a sum that’s worth noting because on the evening of 21 January 1998 at around 6 pm, three armed men walked into the packed waiting room of Dr Aadil Moerat’s surgery in the township of Gugulethu, Cape Town. Minutes later, Dr Moerat was dead. The r...

South Peninsula High School thanks Mr Ivan Leedenberg for his contribution to the life of the school. Mr Leedenberg has retired after 20 years of being an SP teacher. He will be remembered for his boundless energy, his inspirational words and his unstinted enthusiasm for his chosen subjects of Afrikaans and History.

Mr Leedenberg's faith has rubbed off on many, and his talks at assemblies had students enthralled.

We wish him well in his years of retirement, and pray that God will continue to bless him in the years to come 🙏

-BW Saunders(Deputy Principal)
