Youth recently got to explore "identity/who am I" as a theme. Each young person took the group to a place within Cape Town's CBD which they could identify themselves with. Lewis ( Youth Transitions Facilitator) took the group to Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town English School and told stories about the significance of this place and how it's tied to his identity. This helped youth connect and make sense of their own stories.

"Tense," answered the teacher, describing how he felt.
The student paused, then continued, "What was the matter? What has been the matter? What might have been the matter...?"

What is the added value of the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town English School? Apart from the fundamentals of grammar, our English school provides language skills to deal with practical situations in migrants' lives. We also offer extra-curricular classes called English Alive, and have a literacy program for students who cannot read or write. Our efforts would not be possible without the dedication of our students and our volunteer teachers.
