Unexpected professional support from 5 EY denkstatt consultants in Vienna!
Their employer offered them the opportunity to work with Cooktastic on a CSR basis for half a day, focusing on key topics โ€” including awareness training around sustainability. ๐ŸŒฑ
When you come from disadvantaged backgrounds, immediate life priorities often come first.โ€จThatโ€™s why we believe itโ€™s so important to also create space for learning about sustainability โ€” as part of long-term empowerment and opportunity.
The team also supported us with economic development tasks, helping us think strategically about growth and impact.
Thank you so much for your time, expertise and commitment.โ€จIt feels good to co-create a better world. ๐Ÿคโœจ

From Congo to South Africa to Austria โ€” and back. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿด
Michee Kabeya has just completed his six-month seasonal placement in Austria, marking an important milestone in his personal journey.
As a former Cooktastic student, Michee spent the past months working at Langwallner Restaurant in Austria, where he deepened his craft, learned the value of precision and time, and gained invaluable international kitchen experience. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡นโœจ
Under the guidance of the head chef on site, Chef Barbara, he was challenged, supported and pushed to grow โ€” learning how to be both tough and gentle in the kitchen.
For Michee, Cooktastic is more than training.
Itโ€™s family. Itโ€™s opportunity. Itโ€™s the path that shaped who he is today.
This is Micheeโ€™s story โ€” part of our People Behind the Scenes series at Cooktastic.
With Michee now back from Austria, all three of our first Cooktastic seasonal placements have successfully completed their international experience โ€” returning with strong feedback and growth.
Weโ€™re excited to continue this partnership and will be opening applications for the next Austria opportunity in 2026. โœจ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น

In November, Cooktastic had the pleasure of hosting a group of Austrians on an immersive leadership development journey in Cape Town โ€” a setting where leadership and management skills were experienced in practice: presence, sound decision-making, flexibility and the ability to adapt beyond familiar boundaries.

Over 10 intense days, this journey became far more than a program.
It evolved into a real-life space for leadership, resilience and mindful collaboration.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿณ Working side by side in the Cooktastic kitchen
๐Ÿ”„ Responding to new situations again and again
๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ Meeting people at eye level
๐ŸŽˆ Creating through improvisation, trust and shared responsibility
๐Ÿฅ Closing with a drumming workshop, where the Cooktastic cohort played for the group and thanked each participant personally โ€” a deeply moving moment.

This experience was never about โ€œhelpingโ€.
It was about mutual learning โ€” meeting humans as humans through real work, shared responsibility and respect. Resilience emerged naturally by adapting together, staying present and learning in real time.

We extend our sincere thanks to Tina Tichy, leadership expert with a background in IT management and mother of former Cooktastic volunteer Hanna Tichy. Her engagement felt like a continuation of her daughterโ€™s journey with Cooktastic โ€” grounded in humility, curiosity and reciprocal learning.

During the program, Austrian recipes were cooked together with our students and are now featured as special dishes on the Cooktastic menu ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡นโœจ

Thank you to Brigitte and Mbuyi, and to the entire Cooktastic team whose daily work creates opportunity, dignity and real impact.

10.000 km from home. ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡นโ€จFor the first time, three Cooktastic chefs went international โ€” from Cape Town to beautiful Austria in Europe.
A journey of growth, courage and culinary adventure:โ€จโ€ข Lufefe Kwayinto & Michee Kabeya gained experience at Restaurant Langwallner at Irrsee โ€“ a two-toque Gault & Millau restaurant โ€“ working in hot kitchen and service.โ€จโ€ข Priscilla Mazibuko followed her passion for pastry at Hotel Scalaria at Wolfgangsee, a stunning event destination in Austriaโ€™s lake district.
New language. New culture. New horizons. ๐ŸŒโ€จAll three stepped far outside their comfort zones โ€” and came back richer in skill, experience and confidence.
Their hosts were thrilled:โ€จโ€œThey have a solid base, are motivated, hardworking and kind โ€” our guests loved them.โ€ โ€“ Barbara Langwallner
The best part? This pilot project is just the beginning.โ€จCooktasticโ€™s international exchange program will continue and expand in 2026!

Weโ€™re still reminiscing about what an incredible time we had at the trade show! From start to finish, the energy was inspiring, our amazing suppliers filled the space with innovation and passion, and the atmosphere was buzzing with creativity. One of the true highlights was watching the chef expertly breaking down a whole bluefin tuna with absolute precision, such a display of skill and artistry that left everyone in awe. Moments like these remind us how privileged we are to be part of the hospitality community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it unforgettable.
