This is Sarah (affectionately known by the staff and children as Nana), the founder of Firm Foundation.
In this picture she is with two of her grandchildren. Sarah started Firm Foundation in 1992, after years of being a day-mother as well as owning and running other crèches. Sarah has been hands on at the helm of Firm Foundation for decades however recently decided to take a step back. She helps Claire (our manager) with many behind the scenes decisions in maintaining our excellence in childcare status.
Sarah grew up in Cape Town, has four children and three grandchildren. She loves animals and has 2 dogs, 1 cat, a cockatiel and many fish! In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Bernard is our maintenance man. He is a whizz at anything electrical and can fix almost everything in need of repair! He has been with us since 2015. He hails from Malawi and his family is still there. He does however have one brother living in Cape Town. Bernard has three children. During his spare time he enjoys watching movies and listening to music.

This is Karien, she is our administrator. She has been with us since 2021. Karien grew up in Uitenhage and PE. She also lived in JHB for a few years but has settled in Cape Town now and is in her 7th year here. She has one adult daughter. Karien enjoys watching sport and hiking with her dogs during her spare time.

Welcome Zukie, she is our new kitchen manager. She started as an assistant last year. Zukie grew up in Cape Town and has two children, a boy and a girl. In her spare time she enjoys reading and listening to music.

Kerri is our Rainspider class assistant. She has been with us the longest, starting in 2013. Kerri grew up in Cape Town and enjoys spending time with her family over the weekends.

Meet Angela, she is our Pre R teacher. This is our final class and they are called the Rainspiders. Angela started in 2023. She grew up in Johannesburg and has a young daughter. When relaxing, Angela enjoys crocheting and reading.

Meet Saru, she is our Dragonflies teacher. Saru joined us in 2015. She grew up in Zimbabwe and is happily married with one son. In her spare time Saru enjoys cooking, church and socialising with her friends.
