Instrumental Music Tuition (including theory and aural) is presented individually or in groups of maximum 4 students. All ages and stages are welcome from Beginners to Advanced levels.
~Music & Movement Classes
The Music & Movement Classes invite children to experience their musicality, imagination and body awareness through singing, instrument playing, movement & role-play. Brain Gym® and Classical Music are core elements of the programme. The unique combination of Brain Gym® movements and Classical Music builds a solid foundation for future academic learning enhancing specific types of intelligence such as mathematical and linguistic abilities.
~Brain Gym® Balances * all ages
Brain Gym® is a series of simple body movements used to integrate all areas of the brain to enhance learning and build self-esteem. Brain Gym® is a learning readiness programme appropriate to all ages. Through specifically directed movements, Brain Gym® assists learners in coordinating, organizing, and filtering sensory information, allowing tasks to be performed with maximum efficiency including,
reading comprehension, oral reading fluency,
spelling, creative writing,
math and problem solving,
memory, accuracy, focus, and attention.
~About Me-Anja Korber
Anja started her flute career with the Youth Chamber Orchestra and Youth Symphony Orchestra of Bavaria. In 1993, at the age of 16, she won a 3 year scholarship to study with Matthias von Brenndorff, principal flautist of l`Orchestre des Champs-Elysees in Paris. Anja received a special award for “Best Interpretation of Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major" and was offered a second scholarship to study further with Robert Winn in Cologne and Angela Tetzlaff in Lübeck. She won the first prize in the competition “Jeunesses Musicales International”, in Germany, the same year she graduated from school. Hons from the University of Lübeck and three years later a B. Ed in Mathematics, General Music Education and Physical Education. Anja has been the principal flautist in the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Mozart Orchestra in Lübeck and later joined the Orchestre de Baroque in Belgium. Master classes on the traverse flute with Prof. Hundgeburth in Berlin and a one year scholarship with Prof. Apart from performing, Anja taught the flute, the recorder, the piano and Early Music Education at various Music Schools throughout Germany. In 2005 she relocated to South Africa, obtained the PGCE from the University of Cape Town and a year later headed the Music Department of the Wynberg Girls Junior School until 2007. At present, Anja teaches at the Grove Primary School in Cape Town and at the Magical me Music school in Somerset West. She is currently studying to be a Brain Gym Instructor and incorporates Brain Gym movements in all her classes. Anja lives with her husband and two children Max and Klara in Somerset West.
