Our annual Bring & Boeka offers more than a meal. It creates space for connection, learning and understanding across cultures, faith and traditions. It's an opportunity for our community to gather in recognition of Ramadan and to share in the experience of breaking fast together. Thank you to all the families and friends who joined us this year.

Imagine a near future in which 30 Grade 10 students from surrounding schools, supported by a network of dedicated teachers, donors, parents, and mentors, graduate from tertiary study. They step into roles as engineers, doctors, actuaries, accountants, or whatever their chosen path is - they become leaders who contribute to South Africa’s growth and prosperity.

That future began on Saturday as we proudly launched St Cyprian's satellite school, Umthombo Wolwazi.

Students have been selected from over 100 hopeful applicants after a rigorous English and Maths assessment. A group of St Cyprian's teachers will meet with the 30 students weekly as they progress through Grades 10, 11 and finally Matric. Next year, a new group of Grade 10 students will be chosen, the following year, another. Our hope is that the Umthombo Wolwazi cycle will continue and gain strength.

The launch of Umthombo Wolwazi is a shared commitment to excellence, partnership, and opportunity. It offers access to equal opportunity of resources and encourages the 30 to keep dreaming. Families, communities and generations benefit when girls are educated. We are thrilled to be part of that reality. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for the students of Umthombo Wolwazi.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Zarina Olla, a cherished alum and forever girl in blue from the Class of 2011.

Known to many at St Cyprian’s as Zee, Zarina will be remembered for her kindness, incredible generosity and sheer love of life. A loyal and unwavering friend, gentle in presence yet steadfast in her beliefs, Zarina approached life with determination and heart. She knew from primary school that she was going to be an investment banker, a dream she realised with an exceptionally successful career at Standard Chartered Bank in London, where she rose to Director in the Real Estate team.

Quirky, quick-witted, talented, adventurous and wonderfully funny, Zarina brought love and laughter to those around her.

Our thoughts, prayers and heartfelt condolences are with Zarina’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May they find comfort in the memories they hold dear, and strength in the love and support that surrounds them during this profoundly difficult time.
