Greetings 🙏, we are delighted to invite you all to our eighth MRI webinar featuring Merina Dhwoju, an experienced Radiologic Technologist with years of clinical practice in the field.

Title: "MRI Scan Parameters”

Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR), scan time, and spatial resolution are the major MRI parameters that determine image quality. These parameters are influenced by several imaging factors, including slice thickness, pixel size, matrix size, field of view (FOV), bandwidth, repetition time (TR), Echo Time (TE), magnetic field strength, number of excitations (NEX), and the type of radiofrequency coil used. The relationship among SNR, spatial resolution, and scan time is complex, as improving one parameter often affects the others. Therefore, MRI technologists must carefully optimize these imaging parameters to achieve high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining an acceptable scan time.

Greetings 🙏, we are delighted to invite you all to our seventh MRI webinar featuring Santa Lal Shrestha, an Emeritus Professor of Radiography (Medical Physics) at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Title: "MRI Safety”

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non–invasive imaging modality which uses powerful static magnetic fields usually between 1.5–7 Tesla, rapidly switching gradient magnetic fields, and radiofrequency pulses. The primary hazard is the projectile effect with ferromagnetic objects like oxygen cylinders, scissors, IV stands which can be violently attracted into the bore, causing injury or death. But according to reports, the greatest number of adverse events related to MRI are the thermal effects like skin reddening, blisters, burns etc. Additional risks include acoustic noise (>100 dB), peripheral nerve stimulation, and cryogen quench in emergencies. Strict zoning (Zone I–IV as per ACR) or similar depending upon the available space for MRI equipment is mandatory. Thorough patient screening for pacemakers, cochlear implants, aneurysm clips and metallic foreign bodies and staff training are essential to prevent accidents. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
