What does being a girl in sport mean to you?
Being a girl in sport means showing up, working hard and proving that strength and skill have no gender. It also means inspiring more girls to become athletes.
What challenges have you faced as a girl in sport, and how did you overcome them?
Balancing school and sport can be difficult, but planning, hard work and discipline have helped me keep going.
Have you ever doubted yourself? If so, what helped you keep going?
Sometimes I feel like giving up, but my love for volleyball, my teammates, coach and family remind me that one bad day doesnโt define me.
How has sport helped you grow as a person?
Volleyball has taught me teamwork, communication, trust and the importance of supporting one another.
What is the most important lesson sport has taught you?

Never give up, stay positive and believe in yourself. Donโt let anyone or your insecurities stop you from achieving your dreams. โค๏ธ๐

๐ The Story of Tramaine Cornberg & Ocean View Volleyball Club โค๏ธ
Ocean View Volleyball Club started in 2014 through Tramaineโs brother, Dominic Cornberg. Sadly, after Dominic passed away in a motor vehicle accident in 2016, the club collapsed, leaving only a girlsโ team.
Tramaine decided to rebuild the club as an all-girls volleyball club, with a vision to empower young girls, build their confidence and give them an opportunity to grow through sport.
She took the programme into local schools and, over the next two years, developed the girls into a competitive club team. Despite many challenges, the girls have achieved incredible success, including back-to-back MSED U14 School Championships, gold at a U15 Youth Tournament, winning the U19 Girls Division at Century City, and the U15 Junior Extravaganza Tournament.
Three of the girls have also earned their Western Cape colours and represented Team Western Cape.
Tramaineโs story is about more than volleyball. It is about empowering girls, creating opportunities, building confidence and showing young women that they can achieve greatness despite the challenges they face.
๐๏ธ We will also be featuring Tramaineโs volleyball girls in an upcoming interview, where they will share their journey, experiences, challenges and what it means to be part of Ocean View Volleyball Club.
Stay tuned for their story! โค๏ธ๐

GIRLS IN SPORT๐
๐ KAYLEE DANIELS | INTERVIEW ๐
1. Tell us a little about yourself and your rugby journey so far.
Kaylee: My name is Kaylee Daniels, and I am passionate about rugby. I started playing at 16 and have worked hard to develop my skills. Rugby has given me opportunities to represent my team, meet amazing people, and grow both on and off the field.
2. What inspired you to start playing rugby?
Kaylee: I always wanted to play rugby. My dad was a rugby player, so I grew up around the sport. I loved the teamwork, excitement, and discipline, and I wanted to challenge myself.
3. Who has been your biggest supporter throughout your rugby journey?
Kaylee: My family has always been my biggest support system, encouraging me through every challenge. I also learned to be my own biggest supporter by picking myself up during difficult times.
4. What has been your biggest challenge as a girl in rugby?
Kaylee: Proving that girls can play rugby just as passionately and competitively as boys. There are still stereotypes, but I've learned to stay focused on my goals and not let them hold me back.
5. How has rugby helped you grow as a person?
Kaylee: Rugby has taught me confidence, discipline, resilience, and teamwork. It has shown me the value of hard work, dedication, and staying physically and mentally strong.
6. What motivates you to keep going when things get tough?
Kaylee: I remind myself why I started and what I want to achieve. Because I started later than many girls on my teams, I was always determined to prove to myself that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.
7. What is your proudest achievement in rugby so far?
Kaylee: Representing my team at a national level and seeing how much I have improved over the years. Every opportunity to compete at a higher level makes me proud.
8. What important life lessons has rugby taught you?
Kaylee: Rugby has taught me that hard work pays off, teamwork is essential, and setbacks are opportunities to learn and grow. It has also taught me respect, commitment, and perseverance.
9. What advice would you give to girls who want to try rugby or other sports?
Kaylee: Don't be afraid to try. Believe in yourself, work hard, and never let anyone tell you that you can't achieve something because you're a girl. Every athlete starts as a beginner.
10. What message would you like to share with young girls who are afraid to chase their dreams?
Kaylee: Believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams. Stay positive, work hard, and remember that pressure is a privilege. Most importantly, keep God first, trust the process, and know that you are capable of achieving great things.
