ROBBERY AT SATELITE POLICE STATION UNDER INVESTIGATION BY DPCI

WESTERN CAPE: The Hawks have launched a manhunt for three suspects who were responsible for a robbery at Sir Lowry’s Pass satellite police station last night. At around 21:00 the suspects who were armed approached two members who were on duty in the community service centre and held them at gunpoint. They disarmed the police members and fled with two 9mm service pistols, three cellular telephones and a laptop computer. The members were fortunately not injured during the incident.

Community

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you all of the passing of WO Deon van der Westhuizen last evening. Colonel Fleischman wanted me to convey to all what a great loss this is to her and his SAPS colleagues.
Wessie was a policeman, who for many years, worked hard with and for theSomerset West and Sir Lowry’s Pass communities. He was very much respected by all who knew him and we feel this loss deeply.
Our condolences to his family and colleagues - we have lost a bright star. Rest In Peace Wessie and God bless you.

Just after 13h00 today a Bridgewater Neighbourhood Watch member called in to the 24 hour HCW CONTROL ROOM for assistance. He reported that 3 suspects had attacked and stabbed a person in the arm and made off with the victims cell phone and money.
The suspects started running in the direction of the River. The Bridgewater patroller went after them on foot and utilised his handheld radio to ensure that all role players were in the loop regarding descriptions and whereabouts of the suspects. HCW, AM Security and Gordons Bay Afriforum Patrol members responded and due to the up to date comms from the Bridgewater patroller knew exactly where the suspects were heading. (Garden Village). Whilst the other Helderberg Safety Initiative members, FADT and Vetus Schola patrolled the other side streets the HCW, AM Security and GB Patrol members were ready and waiting in Sergeant Street. 2 of the suspect were arrested and handed over to SAPS.
