🚀 Making STEM practical, engaging and meaningful.

Approximately 40 Grade 9 learners at LEAP 1 took part in a hands-on STEM Water Rocket Project with the Stellenbosch University STEM team

Through designing, testing and experimenting, learners explored how concepts like force, pressure, measurement and design apply to real-world challenges — while strengthening their curiosity, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

For The Ubuntu Maths Institute (UMI), experiences like these bring learning beyond the classroom and help young people see themselves as problem-solvers, creators and future innovators.

🎶🔧 Music, Meaning & Mining the Future

He sings because music connects people. He wants to engineer because he wants to build something meaningful and beautiful.

Meet one of our Grade 10 learners at LEAP 1 Langa, part of our Engineering Faculty. He’s taking Maths, EGD, and two languages, and when he’s not in the classroom, he’s raising his voice as a member of the school choir.

He’s on his way to becoming a civil or mining engineer, someone who will one day design and build the infrastructure our country needs.

This is exactly who we build these facilities for. Learners like him are the future of South Africa’s technical and engineering landscape.

Forvis Mazars in South Africa staff, championing what keeps a learner in school, teamed up with the New Heritage Foundation, an organisation dedicated to ending period poverty so that every girl can bleed with dignity together they donated sanitary pads and panty liners to our LEAP girl learners.

Period poverty forces too many girls to miss school. This gift removes that barrier, one pack at a time.

To the Forvis Mazars staff: our girls say THANK YOU. 🙏
You didn’t just give us sanitary products you gave us the freedom to show up, sit in class, and keep chasing our dreams without shame or fear.
