I’m not where I want to be yet…

But I’m getting a clearer picture of where I want to go

Over the years I’ve learned a lot, made plenty of mistakes as well as taking a few wrong turns along the way…

These days I’m more interested in learning than having it all worked out

What I’m doing is improving and building towards a life with more freedom , better health and time for things and people that matter

I don’t have it all mapped but taking the journey one step at a time🙏❤️

In my early chef years it was all long hours and hard work.

I was working split shifts for 6 days a week , sometimes I wouldn’t even be able to take the split break due to a heavy workload.

I hardly saw my family and all my friends where having a great time while I was working

I persevered as I was learning and improving my skills as a chef

Hard work can teach you new skills , but that’s not life that is right for me anymore

Now I working hard on new skills that I plan to use navigate the next chapter of my life .

Do you think it’s ok to trade time for money if you learning new skills?

The path I’ve chosen

Is to enjoy life

Spend time with the people I love

Retire with no financial problems

To have more freedom and choice instead of worry and restriction

I sacrificed a lot of these values over the years working as chef but now they really matter

Not just for myself but for others who a looking for a way forward if they feeling stuck

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a life you don’t need a holiday from 😍

I’ve noticed more people in my community getting retrenched

Many are qualified experienced professionals who probably never thought they would be looking for a job again

I’ve been retrenched myself so I know how quickly things can change

What is distressing is seeing single parents suddenly wondering how they going to make ends meet

It seems that job security isn’t what it once was. Industries change,businesses restructure and economic pressure can come with little warning

That’s why I decided to build an online business alongside my other work. It’s not a guaranteed path but I wanted another option I could continue to grow regardless of what’s happening in the job market

I’m not suggesting you should leave your job but maybe consider a backup plan. Whether it’s investing in new skills,freelancing, an online business or creating another income stream. Having options can make a difference

The best time to build another income stream is before you need one

Don’t wait until you are forced to make a change , do it while you still have time and choice

Has anyone else noticed this happening more often lately?

I always thought confidence meant saying the right things

I thought it meant being bold, forceful and knowing what words to say

I’ve now realised it’s something very different

Real confidence happens when you stop being the person you think people want you to be…

And simply become more comfortable with who you are

People don’t always connect with perfection

They connect with what’s real

I’m still learning this by embracing who I am

I feel my confidence grows by being more comfortable being me❤️

There was a time when waking up in a different harbour or island was just part of the job.

Those years weren’t just about travelling ….

They taught me to adapt, be resourceful,appreciate different cultures and never take a beautiful sunset for granted

Looking back I’m reminded that some of life’s greatest gifts are adventures you experience along the way.
