Learning through sorting and counting!

Today our little learners explored numbers in a hands-on, meaningful way by sorting, counting, matching and comparing

These simple activities help children develop early mathematical concepts while also strengthening, fine-motor skills, concentration, problem-solving, language and logical thinking.

At Vygotsky School of Play, we believe children learn best when they can, touch it, move it, explore it and experience it.

Because early maths isn't just about knowing numbers — it's about understanding how numbers work in the real world.

Sometimes learning looks like regulation.

For a neurodiverse learner, learning doesn’t always look like sitting still, looking at the teacher, or completing a worksheet.

Sometimes it looks like movement.
Sometimes it looks like jumping, rocking, squeezing, climbing or taking a sensory break.

Because before a child can access learning, their nervous system may need to feel safe, regulated and ready.

At Vygotsky School of Play, we don’t see regulation as a distraction from learning — we see it as part of learning.

When we understand what a child needs to regulate, we can meet them where they are and help them access the learning in a way that works for them.

Sometimes the movement IS the learning.
Sometimes regulation IS the progress.
