Highlight of 2025.

I am deeply honoured to have been invited as a Modelling Judge for SOCOPA – the South African Championships of Performing Arts.

SOCOPA is a powerful platform that celebrates talent, passion, and achievement in the performing arts. I was truly impressed and entertained by the brilliant and diverse talent of young South Africans across five categories:
Dance | Vocal | Instrumental | Acting | Modelling (Ramp, TV & Pageant).

Judging alongside international judge Alison from London, beauty queen Sanet and engaging in inspiring discussions about talent with Anastasia, whose work spans Paris Fashion Week, London and Milan, was a tremendous honour.

The winners will proudly represent South Africa at the World Championships in Los Angeles 2026. What an incredible journey ahead! 🌍

So proud to be part of an event that empowers and uplifts our youth.

✨ 30 Years of Labarré Finishing & Modelling School

Thirty years ago, I founded Labarré Finishing & Modelling School. Today, my heart is filled with gratitude as I look back on this incredible journey.

I thank God for His faithfulness and for blessing my business throughout all these years. It has been a true privilege to work with approximately 10,000 young girls, and my hope is that each one walked away with something valuable and positive—something they could carry with them into their future.

My mission has always remained the same:
💖 to encourage girls to take charge of their lives and to equip them with the confidence and skills to live life to the fullest.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. 💫

I am so proud to share how our eldest faced her fears this year. By being a mom of a daughter, the reality strikes that the world's message of her self-worth will bring confusion and will often not be true. Her questions emerged earlier than anticipated: "What will other's think of me?""What if I make a fool of myself?"."Mom, my palms are sweating at the thought of standing in front of the class to do an oral."."Does my hair look OK?" "I don't want to draw any attention to myself." Fear of failure....failing at other's expectation of me?

Not too long ago my daughter said if she could be in a make up set, she would want to be a "blender". To blend in, not to stand out.

At the start of 2024 there was an opportunity to join the modeling/ finishing school offered by Labarré.

This soon became a highlight of her week- always returning home with healthy habits and food for thought on this journey of womanhood. Gala night at the end of the year was when I realised the impact it had on my daughter. It was more than just an opportunity to be on stage. 😁

Walking on the catwalk with music playing...she had a blast! And the crowd could enjoy cheerful clapping encouraging the girls to smile and enjoy their moments of fame.

I am thankful for teachers and role models that positively inspire girls from a young age.

Thank you Labarre for helping the girls build confidence and become the best version of themselves. Not on a competitive level, but on a level of individual growth and developing a positive body image. Thank you for clearly acknowledging God as the creator who made each girl uniquely beautiful!!

With so many girls who feel they need to proof themselves, dress the part or follow the influencers; they need to be reminded that their beauty lies in their uniqueness.

I feel so encouraged that the girls get the opportunity to develop self-worth! And are learning to be confident in their identity! What a future they will have...if they can stand tall, knowing who they are!

Look in the mirror of the truth! Not the mirror that tells you you are not good enough!! Do you love yourself? Because if you can't love yourself it is difficult for others to love you as you are.

Enjoy the journey of getting to know yourself. God's heart is for you to embrace who he made you to be. Not without sin, but with a large cavity that only He can fill.

Consequently we all qualify to stand out! 🌟

I recently had the opportunity to attend a Labarré Finishing School Training session on the "Rules of Appearance in the Modern Workplace," and I must say it was an incredibly insightful and valuable experience. As someone working at a Wealth Planning and Investment Management Firm in South Africa, the importance of a professional and polished appearance in the business world cannot be understated.
The session covered various aspects of style inspiration, and I found the emphasis on "Easy Elegance" particularly noteworthy. It highlighted the importance of dressing for success through practical wardrobe planning, which is essential in creating a lasting impression in the corporate world.

The guidance on being fashion-forward with consideration of one's figure type was incredibly helpful. Understanding how to choose clothing that flatters one's body shape is not only aesthetically pleasing but also boosts confidence in the workplace.
Another significant aspect of the training was the section on grooming rules for working women. It delved into essential topics such as skincare, makeup tips, maintaining neat hair, and hand and nail care. These insights are invaluable for projecting a professional and well-put-together image in my line of work.

Furthermore, the session addressed posture and pose, which are often underestimated in their impact. Learning how to improve posture, pose, and presence with clients is essential for creating a sense of confidence and competence, which is crucial in the financial services industry.
Overall, the Labarré Finishing School Training session on the "Rules of Appearance in the Modern Workplace" exceeded my expectations. It provided practical advice that I can implement both personally and within my career at Autus Private Clients. I believe that investing in such training not only enhances one's professional image but also contributes to improved client relationships and, ultimately, success in the wealth planning and investment management business. I highly recommend similar sessions to professionals seeking to elevate their presence in the business world.

Dear Labarre

Thank you so much and congratulations on a beautiful event this weekend. Seeing all those girls on stage with their confidence and beautiful smiling faces was a wonderful experience.

I rarely send letters like this, but I wanted to make sure you get this feedback.

On Saturday during rehearsal on Saturday morning, I was sitting in the audience waiting for Lea to finish rehearsing. I was literally brought to tears watching you with the other young girls on stage. In todays day and age, it is absolutely heart warming to see that there is someone willing to take our daughters and show them that they are worth more than the clothes that they wear, their size, their popularity or whatever is trending at the moment.

You speak to each of these kids with such trust, kindness and absolute respect - thank you, not only for what you have done for my own daughter, but for all those young girls that really need someone like you to believe in them.

I truly pray that you will continue empowering these young women - that they all will stand up and be proud of who they are and have real self-worth. This world needs more strong, caring and confident women. I see it every day - women are willing to be less, sacrifice themselves because they think they should or that is what is expected of them. Your presence in these girls' lives are changing them in ways they don't understand yet - one day when they are older, they will realise that.

Thank you Labarre, you are a blessing to every girl (and one boy) that you have touched this year!

Regards
Marietjie
