We had a fun Sunday in Sea Point for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Awareness Walkathon 💛 Thank you Asbah-Sa!

Our kids also convinced a boxing coach they saw on the promenade to teach them some moves 🥊🥊 He was só patient and passionate. We are hoping to invite him to Astra to share his skills with more of our learners!

Words cannot describe how grateful we are to the Pam Golding Properties and Heart of Gold Trust team for spoiling our hostel learners on Friday! It was one of those days that we all realised how incredibly lucky we are to have people who care, and the importance of sharing kindness with those around us.

Thank you for upgrading our hostel rooms, gifting us with a massive TV - (just in time for the world cup finals!), laptops for the learners to do their homework on and individualised gifts that included cellphones, soccer balls, head sets, sanitary products and more. You have spoilt our learners who are SO deserving of it.

We would also like to thank our amazing social work students from Department of Social Work University of the Western Cape who finished their practicals at Astra on Friday and worked very hard to make this day possible. Your passion and love for the children is contagious and you have meant SO much tp our children this year. It has been a privilege to have you at Astra school. Two of our grade 9 learners were honoured at the Genocide Centre for participating in the recent Holocaust Art Exhibition.🎨

On Monday, 15 May, our Grade 9 learners were able to experience history outside of the classroom setting when they visited the Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre. 🇿🇦
It was a wonderfully enriching experience and one our Grade 9s will remember for many years to come. 🇮🇱 🇩🇪

Our 2023 prefects spent the past weekend on a leadership camp at school. Life lessons about leadership, teamwork, problem solving skills and collaborating with others were learnt while having tons of fun. ⭐✨🌟🥰

The Astra Family mourns the death of Terrence, our brave Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy warrior. He will be remembered for his humour, his tenacity and his infectious beautiful smile. Rest in peace Terrence. ❤️

Today, 14 March, (3,14) Astra School celebrated International Pi-Day with the world. Any day that combines fun, competitions, education and a pie is a day worth celebrating! We did just that! What a hap"Pi"
Pi- day it has been at Astra School. 👌💫🌟😉

It started with a single leaf and a single flower. 🍃🌺 Encouraged and guided by the very talented artists of The Peter Clarke Art Centre, our special learners' creativity really came to the fore. It all turned out so beautifully.

Early on Thursday, 22 February our MGC 3 set off to The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre in Stellenbosch. The learners thoroughly enjoyed their interaction with the snakes and other animals and were extremely brave!
As they continue their encounter with the animals, a LONG came the giraffe. What a beautiful animal! 🦒🦒
We enjoyed the outdoors in the beautiful sunshine, ☀️whilst experiencing and learning about the animals.🐸🐒🐍

Our Multi Grade 4 learners were invited to visit the Zeitz MOCAA museum at the Waterfront. After we were beautifully welcomed, we were led into the museum and the classroom, where we started our ID portraits using a projector. After our activity, we went to the rooftop area to experience the view over the harbour and over Table Mountain. Lastly we embarked on a walk through the Waterfront. We reluctantly boarded the busses and returned to school.
The whole day was magical.
Thank you Zeitz museum. We will be back. 😊🌟
