Empowered-Ed, formerly Get SACE, is a team of professional development consultants supporting educators, schools & providers

According to legislation, all South African educators (principals and deputy principals, heads of department and teachers) are required to earn 150 professional development (PD) points over a three year cycle. Professional development points can be achieved by performing SACE endorsed activities, each of which has a predetermined point allocation. Participation is aimed at deepening the knowledge

From stressed to sorted.

When Sunningdale Primary School first partnered with us, they weren't sure where they stood with CPTD compliance. Together, we simplified the process, got everything back on track, and gave them the confidence of knowing they have ongoing support whenever they need it.

Sometimes, schools don't need to work harder. They just need the right support.

Another school ticked off and compliant, and happy to say so. If that could be your school, you know where to find us.

The outdated SACE website has a lot to answer for. It's where most of the confusion about CPTD begins.

Swipe through for four of the myths we hear most, and what's actually true. If any of these have been holding you back, consider them busted.

Got a myth of your own you'd like checked? Send it our way.

A certificate is proof, and proof is what earns you the points. So the moment one lands in your inbox, screenshot it or save it to one folder.

It sounds small, but come reporting time it's the difference between a five-minute upload and an afternoon of digging.

Save every certificate as you go. Your future self will thank you.

Today we honour the women who built so much of what this country stands on, and the women who keep building it in classrooms every single day.

To every teacher, HOD and school leader shaping young minds, thank you. Happy Women's Day.

Here's a question worth raising at your next staff meeting. Are we actually using the free webinars our package includes?

Every Empower-Ed package, FULL, ACCESS and PLUS, comes with free termly webinars. That's four chances a year to earn CPTD points you have already paid for, and most schools let them slip by.

Swipe through for what's included and how to make sure your school doesn't miss the next one.

Hey

Save the date. Tuesday 4 August.

Our next free webinar takes place, and if your school subscribes with us, your seat is already covered. Become more SkillEd with this one...

We're keeping the details under wraps for now, but here's what we'll say. It's a straightforward hour that earns you real CPTD points, and it covers something many teachers wish they'd known sooner.

Keep an eye on our Stories this weekend for the full reveal.

Type 1, Type 2, Type 3.

SACE uses a lot of categories, so here's what each one actually means in everyday language.

Swipe through for the three activity types that earn your CPTD points, along with the required minimum points of each. The main takeaway is that you're likely doing more point-earning activities than you realise.

The trick is to log them.

Would you like a hand mapping yours out? Get in touch. This is what we do every day.

A quick question.

When did you last use the free webinars included in your package?

If your school subscribes with us, termly webinars are already part of the deal. That's real, SACE aligned CPTD, already paid for and waiting to be used.

Many schools never take them up. This term, make sure yours does.

Not sure what your package includes? Ask us, and we'll tell you exactly what's available to you.

Rest, they said.

Relax, they said.

Meanwhile the holiday list reads: reorganise the reading corner, plan next term, and somewhere near the bottom, sort out my SACE points.

Here's a thought. Let us take that last one. It's exactly what we're here for, and it's one less thing on a list that never really ends.

Tag a teacher whose holiday hasn't felt much like one.

This is why we do what we do.

When Pretoria Preparatory School first approached us, the CPTD process felt overwhelming. Their staff were unsure where to start, and compliance felt like a daunting task. Together, we worked through the process step by step, giving their team the confidence, guidance and support they needed to stay on track and complete their reporting well before every deadline.

If compliance is weighing on you, it doesn't have to. Get in touch and we'll help.
