One very proud Old Boy recently marked a remarkable milestone, his 90th birthday, and was presented with his Old Boys’ tie as part of the celebrations.
Warm congratulations, George Purser (1948). What a special moment to share with family and friends, and a fitting tribute to a lifelong connection with the school.
Once a Wetpup, always a Wetpup!

🌟 Alumni Success Story 🌟
We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Zuhayr Mohamood (Class of 2018), who is currently thriving in his third year of Medicine at the University of Cape Town.
Alongside his academic pursuits, Zuhayr has continued to excel in karate, representing South Africa at several international competitions since leaving school. A highlight of his sporting journey was being selected as South Africa’s flag bearer at the Junior World Karate Championships in Italy in 2024.
Now, another exciting opportunity awaits. In just two days, Zuhayr will travel to Brazil to compete at the FISU World University Games. This is a particularly special achievement, as karate is only included in the University Games programme on select occasions.
We wish Zuhayr every success as he represents both South Africa and the University of Cape Town on the world stage. Your dedication, discipline and commitment continue to inspire our school community.

What an extraordinary journey.
Last year, one of our alumni, Chris Maxwell(2000), and his wife took on the incredible challenge of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail across the United States — a remarkable 4,265 km trek spanning California, Oregon, and Washington.
Over 152 days, they crossed:
🏔️ 26 national forests
🏕️ 7 national parks
🌲 5 state parks
⭐ 4 national monuments
…all while spending 135 nights in a tent and tackling countless mountain passes (and going through many pairs of hiking shoes!).
A true test of endurance, resilience, and adventure — and an experience they describe as both incredibly challenging and deeply rewarding.
In a fitting final chapter, during their last week on the trail, they made another big decision: after three years in Oslo, they would move home to Cape Town — where they are now beginning their next adventure.
We love celebrating the inspiring journeys of our alumni — on and off the beaten track. Congratulations on an unforgettable achievement! 👏

🏆 WORLD CHAMPION 🏆
Bishops Diocesan College is celebrating an extraordinary achievement after Samuel Clarke (Wetpups 2021) was crowned World Champion in Persuasive Speaking at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships in Bristol.
A Wetpups old boy, Samuel delivered a powerful final speech on the impact of deepfakes on digital identity, earning him first place globally in one of the competition’s most competitive categories.
He was joined by fellow Bishops representatives Hamaad Badroodien, Daniel Bursey, Matthew de Jager( Wetpups 2021), and Luca Heesom, who all showcased outstanding skill across debating, and impromptu speaking.
From Bristol to Cape Town, these learners represented both South Africa and their school with distinction on the global stage, competing against the best young speakers from around the world.
A remarkable result, and a proud moment for Bishops, Wetpups, and the country.
Hearty congratulations to our alumni, Samuel and team member Matthew de Jager.

A heartfelt thank you to all our past staff who joined us at the Centenary Pavilion yesterday morning. It was such a meaningful time of connection — filled with laughter, shared stories, and the joy of reconnecting with colleagues who have all played a part in the Wetpups journey.
A wonderful reminder that the bonds built here last well beyond the years.
Until we meet again — go well.

We are incredibly proud of Wetpups old boy Zev Oaker, who has taken an inspiring and unconventional path since leaving school. After moving to the UK to study Accounting and Finance at Durham University, Zev made the bold decision to step away from rugby and take on a brand new challenge — American football.
In just over a season, that leap of faith has paid off in a big way. Playing on the defensive line, Zev helped his team secure the BUCS National Championship, the highest level of university American football in the UK.
His journey is a powerful reminder of the value of backing yourself, embracing new opportunities, and stepping outside your comfort zone. From captaincy and commitment on the rugby field to championship success abroad, Zev continues to make us proud.
We can’t wait to see what’s next — Wetpups is behind you all the way! 💙
