We are situated at 13 Manta Way, Strandfontein and teach in an indoor, heated swimming pool. Lessons are conducted in groups of 2-5 swimmers for a duration of 30 minutes. What if your child didn’t have to fit in… to belong?

At Little Mermaids, we’ve learned that inclusion isn’t about asking every child to learn in the same way.

It’s about creating a space where they can learn THEIR WAY.

Yaqeen is one of our beautiful neurodivergent swimmers, and watching his journey has reminded us why this matters so much.

Sometimes progress is a new skill.
Sometimes it’s entering the water without fear.
Sometimes it’s trusting a teacher.
Sometimes it’s simply staying a little longer than last time.

And every single one of those moments deserves to be celebrated. 🥹

We have intentionally created a swim school where our neurodivergent swimmers can feel safe, understood, accepted and never judged.

Where patience is part of the lesson.
Where we adapt when we need to.
Where we celebrate the child in front of us, not the child we expect them to be.

Because swimming is about so much more than strokes.

It’s confidence.
It’s independence.
It’s water safety.
It’s connection.

And most importantly, it’s knowing that there is a place where you belong.

Yaqeen, we are so proud of you. 💜💙

And to the parents who trust us with your little ones — thank you for allowing us to be part of their journey.

Today, the work spoke for itself. 💙

Minister Ricardo MacKenzie from the Department of Cultural Affairs & Sport kept his word and visited our swim school and he didn't just watch from the sidelines.

He got into the pool, experienced our space first-hand and spent time with Masoodh learning more about the work we do and the children we serve.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share what we've built over the past few years. We are even more excited about what conversations like this could mean for the future of water safety in our communities.

The work continues. 🌊
